ABSTRACT: In the mol-ecule of the title compound, C(15)H(12)BrN(3)·H(2)O, the phenyl ring is coplanar with the imidazopyridine ring system [dihedral angle = 0.4?(1)°]. The water mol-ecule is disordered over two positions with occupancies of 0.58?(1) and 0.42?(1), and it is linked to the main mol-ecule via an O-H?N hydrogen bond.

In the five-membered imidazo portion, the C-N bond whose C atom is also connected to the pyridine N atom has predominantly double-bond character [1.334?(2)?Å] whereas the C-N bond whose atom is connected to the pyridine C atom has predominantly single-bond character [1.371?(2)?Å]. The water mol-ecule engages in hydrogen bonding with the latter N atom; it is also connected to a symmetry-related water mol-ecule, generating a linear chain structure.

Crystal structure and Hirshfeld surface analysis of 4-allyl-6-bromo-2-(4-chloro-phen-yl)-4H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine.

Project description:The title compound, C15H11BrClN3, is built up from a planar imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine unit linked to phenyl and allyl substituents. The allyl substituent is rotated significantly out of the imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine plane, while the benzene ring is inclined by 3.84?(6)° to the ring system. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked via a pair of weak inter-molecular C-H?N hydrogen bonds, forming an inversion dimer with an R 2 2(20) ring motif. The dimers are further connected by ?-? stacking inter-actions between the imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine ring systems [centroid-centroid distances = 3.7161?(13) and 3.8478?(13)?Å]. The important contributions to the Hirshfeld surface are H?H (35.9%), H?Cl/Cl?H (15.0%), H?C/C?H (12.4%), H?Br/Br?H (10.8%), H?N/N?H (7.5%), C?Br/Br?C (5.9%), C?C (5.5%) and C?N/N?C (4.0%) contacts.

Project description:There are two crystallographically independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(22)H(17)BrN(6). The dihedral angles between the imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine mean plane and the phenyl rings are 20.4 (2) and 24.0 (2)° in the two mol-ecules. The orientation of triazoles compared to the imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine system is almost the same in both mol-ecules, with dihedral angles of 64.2 (2) and 65.1 (2)°. However, the main difference between the two mol-ecules lies in the arrangement of the phenyl groups compared to imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine in each mol-ecule. Indeed, in the first mol-ecule the dihedral angle between the plane of the phenyl ring and that of the imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine system is 67.7 (2)°, while in the second mol-ecule the plane of the phenyl ring is almost perpendicular to that of the imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine system with a dihedral angle of 86.0 (2)°.

Crystal structure, Hirshfeld surface analysis and DFT studies of 6-bromo-3-(12-bromo-dodec-yl)-2-(4-nitro-phen-yl)-4H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine.

Project description:The title compound, C24H30Br2N4O2, consists of a 2-(4-nitro-phen-yl)-4H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine entity with a 12-bromo-dodecyl substituent attached to the pyridine N atom. The middle eight-carbon portion of the side chain is planar to within 0.09?(1)?Å and makes a dihedral angle of 21.9?(8)° with the mean plane of the imidazolo-pyridine moiety, giving the mol-ecule a V-shape. In the crystal, the imidazolo-pyridine units are associated through slipped ?-? stacking inter-actions together with weak C-HPyr?ONtr and C-HBrmdc-yl?ONtr (Pyr = pyridine, Ntr = nitro and Brmdcyl = bromo-dodec-yl) hydrogen bonds. The 12-bromo-dodecyl chains overlap with each other between the stacks. The terminal -CH2Br group of the side chain shows disorder over two resolved sites in a 0.902?(3):0.098?(3) ratio. Hirshfeld surface analysis indicates that the most important contributions for the crystal packing are from H?H (48.1%), H?Br/Br?H (15.0%) and H?O/O?H (12.8%) inter-actions. The optimized mol-ecular structure, using density functional theory at the B3LYP/ 6-311?G(d,p) level, is compared with the experimentally determined structure in the solid state. The HOMO-LUMO behaviour was elucidated to determine the energy gap.
