ABSTRACT: In the title centrosymmetric Mg(II) complex, [Mg(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(2)(H(2)O)(6)], each Mg cation is N,O-chelated by a pyridine-2,4-dicarboxyl-ate dianion and is coordinated by three water mol-ecules. A carboxyl-ate O atom from the neighboring pyridine-2,4-dicarboxyl-ate dianion bridges the Mg cation to complete the MgNO(5) distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. The dinuclear complex mol-ecules are linked by inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding, forming a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.

Project description:The title polymeric compound, [Cd(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(H(2)O)(3)](n) or [Cd(py-2,3-dc)(H(2)O)(3)](n), where py-2,3-dcH(2) is pyridine-2,3-dicarboxylic acid, was obtained by the reaction of cadmium(II) nitrate hexa-hydrate with (pipzH(2))(py-2,3-dc) as a proton-transfer compound in aqueous solution (pipz is piperazine). The mol-ecular structure shows that only the anionic fragment of the starting proton-transfer compound is present in the complex, while the (pipzH(2))(2+) dication has been lost. Each (py-2,3-dc)(2-) ligand bridges two Cd(II) atoms in two different coordination modes, i.e. one end acts as a monodentate and the other end as a bidentate ligand. The three remaining coordination sites on the metal center are occupied by water mol-ecules. The geometric arrangement of the six donor atoms around the Cd(II) atom is distorted octa-hedral. In the crystal structure, O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds play an important role in stabilizing the supra-molecular structure.

Project description:In the centrosymmetric title compound, [Co(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·2H(2)O, the two Co(II) cations are bridged by pairs of pyridine-2,5-dicarboxyl-ate anions across an inversion center. Besides two pyridine-2,5-dicarboxyl-ate anions, one bidentate 2,2'-bipyridine and one water mol-ecule coordinate to the Co cation, completing a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. Within the dinuclear mol-ecule, π-π stacking occurs between parallel pyridine rings with centroid-centroid distances of 3.802 (2) Å. The crystal structure contains extensive O-H⋯O and weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and C-H⋯π inter-actions.

Project description:The title compound, [Co(3)Na(2)(C(7)H(2)ClNO(4))(4)(H(2)O)(12)][Co(C(7)H(2)ClNO(4))(H(2)O)(3)](2)·6H(2)O, consists of a centrosymmetric dimer of [Co(II)(dipicCl)(2)](2-) complex dianions [dipicCl is 4-chloro-pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate] bridged by an [Na(2)Co(II)(H(2)O)(12)](4+) tetra-cationic cluster, two independent [Co(dipicCl)(H(2)O)(3)] complexes, and six water mol-ecules of crystallization. The metals are all six-coordinate with distorted octahedral geometries. The [Co(II)(dipicCl)(H(2)O)(3)] complexes are neutral, with one tridentate ligand and three water molecules. The [Co(II)(dipicCl)(2)](2-) complexes each have two tridentate ligands. The [Na(2)Co(II)(H(2)O)(12)](4+) cluster has a central Co(II) ion which is coordinated to six water molecules and lies on a crystallographic inversion center. Four of the water molecules bridge to two sodium ions, each of which have three other water molecules coordinated along with an O atom from the [Co(II)(dipicCl)(2)](2-) complex. In the crystal structure, the various units are linked by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. Two water molecules are disordered equally over two positions.

Project description:In the centrosymmetric dinuclear complex anion of the title compound, (C(5)H(8)N(3))(2)[Bi(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(4)(H(2)O)(2)]·4H(2)O, the Bi(III) atom is eight-coordinated in an N(2)O(6) environment and has a distorted bicapped trigonal-prismatic coordination environment. Extensive inter-molecular O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O and weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds lead to the stability of the crystal structure. Inter-actions between one C-H group of the 2,3-diamino-pyridinium [(2,3-dapyH)(+)] cation and the aromatic ring of the pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate (pydc) ligand (C-H⋯centroid distance = 2.78 Å) and π-π inter-actions between the (2,3-dapyH)(+) cations and between the (2,3-dapyH)(+) cation and the pydc ligand [centroid-centroid distances = 3.489 (5) and 3.694 (5) Å] are observed.

Project description:The reaction of the proton-transfer compound (pdaH(2))(py-3,5-dc)·H(2)O (pda = propane-1,3-diamine and py-3,5-dcH(2) = pyridine-3,5-dicarboxylic acid) with Ba(NO(3))(2) leads to the formation of the title polymeric compound, [Ba(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(H(2)O)(3)](n). The Ba(II) atom is nine-coordinated by six carboxyl-ate O atoms from the (py-3,5-dc)(2-) ligands, and three O atoms from the coordinated water mol-ecules. The coordination polyhedron around the Ba(II) atom is best described as tricapped trigonal-prismatic. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular inter-actions, such as X-H⋯O hydrogen bonds (X = O and C) and π-π stacking [centroid-centroid distances between pyridine rings of 3.6191 (13) and 3.6192 (13) Å] play an important role in stabilizing the supramolecular structure.

In the crystal, inter-molecular C-H⋯O, N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, as well as π-π inter-actions with centroid-centroid distances of 3.514 (3) Å connect the various components into a supra-molecular structure.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Ce(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(3)(H(2)O)(3)](n), contains two Ce(III) cations, three pyridine-3,5-dicarboxyl-ate (pyd) anions and three coordinated water mol-ecules. One Ce(III) cation is coordinated by seven carboxyl-ate O atoms from six pyd anions and two water mol-ecules in a square-face-capped square-anti-prismatic geometry. Another Ce(III) cation is coordinated by seven O atoms from six pdy anions and one water mol-ecule in a bicapped trigonal-prismatic geometry. The pdy anions bridge the Ce(III) cations, forming the three-dimensional polymeric structure. The crystal structure contains extensive O-H⋯O, O-H⋯N and weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. π-π stacking is present in the crystal structure, the shortest centroid-centroid distance between parallel pyridine rings being 3.509 (4) Å.

Project description:In the mononuclear title complex, [Cd(C(8)H(4)O(4))(C(8)H(7)N(3))(2)(H(2)O)], the Cd(II) atom is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by four N atoms from two bidentate chelating 2-(1H-pyrazol-3-yl)pyridine ligands, one O atom from a benzene-1,2-dicarboxyl-ate ligand and one water mol-ecule. The mol-ecular structure features intra-molecular O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. In the crystal structure, the complex mol-ecules are assembled into a two-dimensional supra-molecular layer parallel to (011) via O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and π-π stacking inter-actions between the pyridyl and pyrazole rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.544 (2) and 3.722 (3) Å].
