ABSTRACT: In the centrosymmetric binuclear title compound, [Pb(2)(N(3))(2)(NCS)(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(4)], the N-donor atoms of one N-heterocycle and the N-donor atom of a thio-cyanate anion along with the sterically active lone-pair electrons comprise an approximate square; a plane through three atoms of this square is twisted slightly with respect to the square made up of the other four atoms (two from the other N-heterocycle and one each from the bridging azide anions) at a dihedral angle of 18.7?(1)°. The Pb(II) atom is in a ?-square-anti-prismaic coordination.

Project description:In the mol-ecule of the title compound, [Hg(NCS)(2)(C(26)H(20)N(2))], the Hg(II) atom is four-coordinated in a distorted tetra-hedral configuration by two N atoms from a chelating 2,9-dimethyl-4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline ligand and by two S atoms from two thio-cyanate anions. The ligand ring system is not planar. The dihedral angle between the phenyl rings is 53.20?(3)° . In the crystal structure, ?-? contacts between phenanthroline rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.981?(1)?Å] may stabilize the structure.

Project description:The title compound, [Mg(NCS)(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)], has been synthesized from the hydro-thermal reaction of MgCl(2), KSCN, 1,10-phenanthroline and H(2)O. Its structure is isotypic with the Mn(II), Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) analogues. The Mg(II) cation has a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry containing four N atoms from two 1,10-phenanthroline mol-ecules and two N atoms from two thio-cyanate anions. The asymmetric unit contains one-half mol-ecule, and the complete complex has 2 symmetry.

Project description:The title coordination polymer, [Pb(2)(N(3))(3)(NO(2))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)](n), has as the repeat unit a centrosymmetric dinuclear mol-ecule having azide and nitrite groups that bridge adjacent heterocycle-coordinated metal centers. One of the azide group uses its terminal ends to bridge whereas the nitrite group chelates to one metal atom and uses one of its O atoms to bridge. The azide and nitrite groups are disordered with respect to each other in a 1:1 ratio. Adjacent dinuclear mol-ecules are further bridged by the other two azide groups, generating a linear chain motif parallel to [010]. Half of the Pb atoms show a ?-dodeca-hedral coordination and the other half show a ?-penta-gonal-bipyramidal coordination.

Project description:The title compound, [Cd(2)(NCS)(4)(C(8)H(8)N(2))(4)], is a centrosymmetric dinuclear cadmium(II) complex in which each two metal ions are linked by a pair of thio-cyanate N:S-bridges. Two 2-methyl-benzimidazole N-atom donors and one terminal thio-cyanate N atom complete a highly distorted square-pyramidal geometry around the Cd atom. In the crystal structure, two N-H?S hydrogen-bonding inter-actions occur, resulting in a three-dimensional polymeric structure. The apical 2-methyl-benzimidazole ring and its symmetry-related counterpart are arranged in an anti-parallel manner with a centroid-centroid separation of 3.6050?(14)?Å, indicative of a ?-? inter-action.

Project description:The title compound, [Cd(NCS)(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)], has been obtained from the decomposition reaction of dithio-oxamide in a dimethyl-formamide solution containing 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) and Cd(NO(3))(2)·4H(2)O. Its crystal structure is formed by monuclear Cd(II) entities in which the metal atom is sited on a twofold rotation axis. The Cd(II) atom is six-coordinated in the form of a distorted octa-hedron by two chelating phenanthroline mol-ecules and two thio-cyanate anions coordinated through their N atoms. In the crystal, C-H?N hydrogen bonds are established between the phenanthroline and thio-cyanate ligands of neighbouring complexes.

Both amine H atoms are involved in N-H?S hydrogen bonding, resulting in the formation of layers of inter-linked mol-ecules parallel to the ab plane, which are further held together by weak ?-? inter-actions between adjacent complexes, involving one ring of each dipyridyl-amine unit [centroid-centroid distance = 3.777?(4)?Å], forming a three-dimensional assembly.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Hg(SCN)(2)(C(14)H(12)N(2))], contains two complex mol-ecules in which the Hg(II) atoms are both four-coordinated in a distorted tetra-hedral configuration by two N atoms from a chelating 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline ligand and by two S atoms from two thio-cyanate anions. The 1,10-phenanthroline ligand is slightly folded for one complex, the dihedral angle between the pyridine planes being 5.3?(1)°. In contrast it is nearly planar [0.5?(1)°] as it complexes with the other Hg(II) atom. The thio-cyanate ligands are virtually linear and the S atom is bonded to Hg(II) with N?S-Hg angles ranging from 99.3?(1) to 103.5?(1)°. Despite the presence of six aromatic rings in the asymmetric unit, there are no significant inter-molecular ?-? contacts between phenanthroline ligands as the centroid-centroid distance of the closest contact between six-membered rings is 4.11?(1) A°.
