Project description:The title compound, C(18)H(26)O(7), is an eremophilenolide which has been isolated from the plant Ligularia duciformis for the first time. The present study confirms the atomic connectivity assigned on the basis of (1)H and (13)C NMR spectroscopy. The mol-ecule contains three fused rings, two six-membered rings in chair confomations and a five-membered ring in a flattened envelope conformation. Two hy-droxy groups are involved in formation of intra- and inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds. The latter ones link mol-ecules into chains propagating in [010].

Project description:The title compound, C(34)H(47)NO(12), is the norditerpenoid alkaloid aconifine isolated from the leaves and tubers of Aconitum karakolicum Rapaics. It has a lycoctonine carbon skeleton and contains four six-membered rings and two five-membered rings; its geometry is similar to that observed in other lycoctonine-type diterpenoid alkaloids. There are two intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds which close five- and seven-membered pseudo-rings, respectively. In the crystal, two inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds cross-link the mol-ecules into double chains along the a axis.

Project description:The title compound (systematic name5,6-dihy-droxy-7,8-dimeth-oxy-2-phenyl-chromen-4-one), C17H14O6, is a flavone that was isolated from the petroleum ether-soluble fraction of the rare traditional Chinese medicinal herb Saussurea involucrata. The flavone mol-ecule is almost planar, with a dihedral angle between the planes of the benzo-pyran-4-one group and the attached phenyl group of 1.89?(6)°. The 5-hy-droxy group forms a strong intra-molecular hydrogen bond with the carbonyl group, resulting in a six-membered hydrogen-bonded ring. The 6-hy-droxy group also forms an intra-molecular O-H?O contact. In the crystal, the molecules are linked by O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds and ?-? inter-actions [3.37?(2)-3.39?(2)?Å], which build up a three-dimensional network.

The 5-hy-droxy group forms a strong intra-molecular hydrogen bond with the carbonyl group, resulting in a six-membered ring. In the crystal, the components are linked by O-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. The 4-hy-droxy-phenyl benzene ring is bonded equatorially to the pyrone ring, which adopts a slightly distorted sofa conformation. The title compound is the hydrated form of a previously reported structure [Shoja (1990 ?). Acta Cryst. C46, 1969-1971]. There are only slight variations in the mol-ecular geometry between the two compounds.

The atoms of the benzene ring and its attached ester group and part of the hy-droxy tert-butyl ester side chain are disordered over two sets of sites in a 50:50 ratio. Linear supra-molecular chains along the a axis mediated by hy-droxy-carbonyl O-H?O hydrogen bonds feature in the crystal packing. The same H atom also partakes in an intra-molecular O-H?O inter-action.

The mol-ecule is approximately planar, with the exception of the terminal methyl groups, the C atoms of which devitate from their attached ring planes by 1.243?(5) and 1.168?(5)?Å. The dihedral angle between the substituted benzopyran and benzene rings is 5.8?(1)°; this near planarity could be due to conjugation or a packing effect. Intra-molecular O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds occur. In the crystal, mol-ecules are connected by O-H?O hydrogen bonds involving the hy-droxy and carbonyl groups, forming hydrogen-bonded chains along [001] and [1-10]. The chains are linked by C-H?O inter-actions.
