ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(16)H(16)Cl(2)N(2), was synthesized by the condensation reaction between 4,5-dichloro-o-phenyl-ene-diamine and (1R)-(-)-camphorquinone in boiling acetic acid. The two crystallographically independent mol-ecules in the unit cell are related by a pseudo-inversion center.

In the mol-ecular structure, the quinoxaline ring and two methyl-ene substituents lie on the mirror plane while the other two methyl-ene groups are disordered about the plane. The crystal packing is stabilized by weak inter-molecular π-π stacking inter-actions with centroid-centroid distances of 3.6803 (7) Å.

Project description:In the title compound, C(10)H(10)N(4)O(4)·0.5H(2)O, the two rings of the pteridine system are nearly coplanar [dihedral angle = 4.25?(9)°]. The atoms of the carboxyl group are also coplanar with the pteridine unit [r.m.s. deviation from the mean plane of the pteridine skeleton = 0.092?(2)?Å]. In the crystal, the presence of the water molecule of crystallization (O atom site symmetry 2) leads to a hydrogen-bonding pattern different from the one shown by many carboxylic acid compounds (dimers formed through O-H?O hydrogen bonds between neighbouring carboxyl groups): in the present structure, the water mol-ecule, which lies on a binary axis, acts as a bridge between two mol-ecules, forming a hydrogen-bonded dimer. Project description:The mol-ecule of the title compound, C(16)H(21)BO(2), comprises a chiral fused tricyclic system containing five-membered (1,3,2-dioxaborolane), six-membered (cyclo-hexa-ne) and four-membered (cyclo-butane) rings. The 1,3,2-dioxaborolane ring is almost planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.035?Å), and the syn H and Me substituents at this ring are in an eclipsed conformation. The cyclo-hexane and cyclo-butane rings adopt sofa and butterfly conformations, respectively. The B atom has a trigonal-planar configuration (sum of the bond angles = 360.0°). The phenyl ring is practically coplanar with the 1,3,2-dioxaborolane ring [dihedral angle between the ring planes = 1.96?(8)°]. The absolute structure was determined from the known configuration of (+)-pinanediol which was used in the synthesis. In the crystal, weak C-H??(Ph) inter-actions occur.

The six-membered chelate ring is essentially planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0378?Å) and forms a dihedral angle of 31.67?(11)° with the phenyl ring.
