Tetra-kis[?-2-(3,4-dimeth-oxy-phen-yl)acetato]-?O:O';?O,O':O;?O:O,O'-bis-{[2-(3,4-dimeth-oxy-phen-yl)acetato-?O,O'](1,10-phenanthroline-?N,N')samarium(III)}.

ABSTRACT: In the centrosymmetric dinuclear title complex, [Sm(2)(C(10)H(11)O(4))(6)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)], the Sm(III) ion is nine-coordinated by seven O atoms of five 2-(3,4-dimeth-oxy-phen-yl)acetate (DMPA) ligands and two N atoms of one bis-chelating 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligand, forming a distorted tricapped trigonal-prismatic environment. The DMPA ligands coordinate in bis-chelate, bridging and bridging tridentate modes. An intra-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bond occurs. Inter-molecular C-H?O inter-actions are also present in the crystal.
