ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(15)H(10)N(2)O(3), the isoindoline ring system is almost planar [maximum deviation = 0.020?(2)?Å] and makes a dihedral angle of 1.57?(7)° with the benzene ring. Intra-molecular O-H?N and C-H?O hydrogen bonds are observed.

Project description:The title mol-ecule, C16H9BrO3, deviates slightly from planarity. The benzene ring makes a dihedral angle of 1.02?(9)° with the plane defined by the five-membered ring of the indandione moiety. The latter exhibits a minute twist indicated by the dihedral angle of 0.47?(9)° between the planes of the five- and six-membered rings. An intra-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bond between the attached benzene ring with one of the indandione carbonyl O atoms stabilizes the mol-ecular conformation. In the crystal, the mol-ecules form dimers across centres of inversion via pairwise O-H?O hydrogen bonds. The dimers form stacks running parallel to [010] and inter-act through ?-? inter-actions between the five-membered ring of one mol-ecule and the six-membered rings of the indandione moiety of an adjacent mol-ecule [centroid-to-centroid distance = 3.5454?(10)?Å].

In mol-ecule 1, the dihedral angles between the pyrazolone ring and the pendant phenyl and hydroxybenzene rings are 54.43 (6) and 28.72 (6)°, respectively. The corresponding data for mol-ecule 2 are 86.84 (6) and 25.69 (5)°, respectively, and for mol-ecule 3 are 47.41 (7) and 17.09 (7)°, respectively. Project description:There are two mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(14)H(11)N(3)OS. In each, the benzimidazole ring system is essentially planar, with maximum deviations of 0.010?(2) and 0.006?(2)?Å, and makes dihedral angles of 8.70?(9) and 13.75?(8)°, respectively, with the hy-droxy-substituted benzene rings. Each mol-ecule adopts an E configuration about the central C=N double bond. In the crystal, the two independent mol-ecules are connected via inter-molecular N-H?S hydrogen bonds, forming dimers. Furthermore, the dimers are connected by N-H?O hydrogen bonds into mol-ecular ribbons along the c axis. There is an intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bond in each mol-ecule, which generates an S(6) ring motif.
