ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Mg(H(2)O)(6)](C(7)H(4)NO(4))(2), a single six-coordinate Mg(2+) cation (site symmetry 2/m) is bonded to six water mol-ecules in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The crystal packing between the complex cation and the zwitterionic organic cation (m symmetry) is stabilized by inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds and weak inter-molecular C-H?O inter-actions.

Project description:The title compound, [Ni(H(2)O)(6)][Ni(3)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(4)(H(2)O)(4)]·8H(2)O, was obtained by the reaction of nickel(II) nitrate hexa-hydrate with pyridine-2,6-dicarb-oxy-lic acid (pydcH(2)) and 1,10-phenanothroline (phen) in an aqueous solution. The latter ligand is not involved in formation of the title complex. There are three different Ni(II) atoms in the asymmetric unit, two of which are located on inversion centers, and thus the [Ni(H(2)O)(6)](2+) cation and the trinuclear {[Ni(pydc)(2)](2)-?-Ni(H(2)O)(4)}(2-) anion are centrosymmetric. All Ni(II) atoms exhibit an octa-hedral coordination geometry. Various inter-actions, including numerous O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds and C-O?? stacking of the pyridine and carboxyl-ate groups [3.570?(1), 3.758?(1) and 3.609?(1)?Å], are observed in the crystal structure.

In the crystal, a network of O-H?O, N-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds involving the cations, anions and water mol-ecules results in a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, (C(6)H(9)N(2))(2)[Cu(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(2)], contains half of a [Cu(pydc)(2)](2-) (pydcH(2) is pyridine-2,6-dicarb-oxy-lic acid) anion and one protonated 2-amino-4-methyl-pyridine (2a4mpH)(+) counter-ion. The anion is a six-coordinated complex with a distorted CuN(2)O(4) octa-hedral geometry around the Cu(II) ion. N-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds along with ?-? contacts between the pyridine rings of the (2a4mpH)(+) cations [centroid-centroid distance = 3.573?(2)?Å] stabilize the crystal structure.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Co(H(2)O)(6)](C(16)H(8)O(8)), both the cation and anion are centrosymmetric. The Co cation displays a CoO(6) octa-hedral geometry formed by six water mol-ecules. In the anion, the two carboxyl groups are oriented at dihedral angles of 4.8?(5) and 10.4?(7)° with respect to the benzene ring. Very strong O-H?O hydrogen bonds between the protonated and deprotonated carboxylate groups occur. Neighbouring cations and anions are connected through O-H?O hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.

These hydrogen-bonded sheets are packed into the crystal with the formation of centrosymmetric voids of 68?Å(3), which are filled by the water mol-ecules, each of which is disordered over four positions.

A three-dimensional supra-molecular architecture is formed via hydrogen-bond inter-actions [O-H?O = 2.723?(2)-2.833?(2)?Å] to give alternating layers of [Mg(H(2)O)(6)](2+) cations and d-camphor-10-sulfonate anions. The title compound is isomorphous with the zinc, copper, cadmium and nickel analogues.

This applies also for the intermolecular forces, consisting of O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds and ?-? interactions [with centroid-centroid distances of 3.428?(2) and 3.579?(2)?Å], that lead to a cohesion of the structure.

Project description:In the title compound, 2C(5)H(7)N(2) (+)·C(10)H(4)O(8) (2-), the 2-amino-pyridinium (2-apyH) cation and 2,5-dicarb-oxy-benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate (btcH2) anion are both nearly planar, with r.m.s. deviations of 0.015 and 0.050?Å, respectively. The angle between the latter least-squares planes is 17.68?(9)°. The overall crystal structure results from the packing of two-dimensional networks, formed by alternating 2-apyH and btcH2 linked by hydrogen bonds, parallel to (100).

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, (C(7)H(10)N)(2)[ZnBr(4)], the coordination geometry of the anion is approximately tetra-hedral and a twofold rotation axis passes through the Zn atom. The Zn-Br bond lengths range from 2.400?(2) to 2.408?(3)?Å and the Br-Zn-Br angles range from 108.14?(6) to 115.15?(15)°. In the crystal structure, the [ZnBr(4)](2-) anion is connected to two cations through N-H?Br and H(2)C-H?Br hydrogen bonds, forming two-dimensional cation-anion-cation layers normal to the b axis. No significant Br?Br inter-actions [the shortest being 4.423?(4)?Å] are observed in the structure.
