Hexa-kis-(propyl-ammonium) benzene-1,2,4,5-tetra-carboxyl-ate 2,5-dicarb-oxy-benzene-1,4-carboxyl-ate tetra-hydrate.

ABSTRACT: The title organic salt, 6C(3)H(10)N(+)·C(10)H(2)O(8) (4-)·C(10)H(4)O(8) (2-)·4H(2)O, contains seven independent entities in the asymmetric unit which comprises three propyl-ammonium cations, two water mol-ecules, half a 2,5-dicarb-oxy-benzene-1,4-carboxyl-ate dianion (H(2)btc(2-)) and half a benzene-1,2,4,5-tetra-carboxyl-ate tetra-anion (btc(4-)), the latter two anions being located about centres of inversion. One of the water mol-ecules is disordered over two positions in a 0.55 (2):0.45 (2) ratio. The combination of mol-ecular ions and water mol-ecules results in an extensive and complex three-dimensional network of hydrogen bonds, the network being made up of nine unique N-H⋯O inter-actions between the ammonium cations and the anions, as well as four unique O-H⋯O inter-actions between the water mol-ecules and the anions.

A variety of O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, as well as C-H⋯π inter-actions, are present in the crystal structure. The tetraanion is generated by inversion.

Project description:In the centrosymmetric title compound, [Ag(4)(C(10)H(2)O(8))](n), the benzene ring has irregular bond lengths but remains planar (r.m.s. deviation 0.0002 Å). The Ag-O bond lengths are in the range 2.153 (3)-2.615 (4) Å. The carboxyl-ate groups are oriented at dihedral angles of 26.4 (5) and 74.9 (4)° to the benzene ring. The coordination behaviour of each carboxyl-ate O atom is different: in one carboxylate, the O atoms are coordinated to a single and two Ag atoms; in the other carboxylate, the O atoms are coordinated to two and three Ag atoms. Non-classical inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonding is present in the crystal structure. The title compound forms a three-dimensional polymeric network due to the coordination of the Ag atoms.

Project description:In the title compound, 2C(5)H(7)N(2) (+)·C(10)H(4)O(8) (2-), the 2-amino-pyridinium (2-apyH) cation and 2,5-dicarb-oxy-benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate (btcH2) anion are both nearly planar, with r.m.s. deviations of 0.015 and 0.050 Å, respectively. The angle between the latter least-squares planes is 17.68 (9)°. The overall crystal structure results from the packing of two-dimensional networks, formed by alternating 2-apyH and btcH2 linked by hydrogen bonds, parallel to (100).

Project description:The title polymeric coordination compound, {[Co2(C10H2O8)(H2O)8]·8H2O} n , was obtained by slow diffusion of a dilute aqueous solution of CoCl2 and the sodium salt of benzene-1,2,4,5-tetracarboxylic acid (H4btec) through an agar-agar gel bridge in a U-shaped tube. The two independent Co(2+) ions are each situated on an inversion centre and are coordinated in a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry by four water O atoms and two carboxyl-ate O atoms from two btec(4-) ligands (-1> symmetry), forming a layer parallel to (11-1). This layer can be described as a mol-ecular two-dimensional square grid with the benzene rings at the nodes and the Co(II) atoms connecting the nodes. O-H?O hydrogen-bonding interactions involving the coordinating water molecules, the carboxylate O atoms and lattice water molecules lead to the formation of a three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title complex, {[CaZn(C(10)H(2)O(8))(H(2)O)(2)]·H(2)O}(n), the Zn(II) ion is coordinated by four O atoms from four benzene-1,2,4,5-tetra-carboxyl-ate anions in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The Ca(II) ion is eight-coordinated by six O atoms from four benzene-1,2,4,5-tetra-carboxyl-ate anions and by two water mol-ecules in a distorted square-anti-prismatic geometry. The Ca(II) and Zn(II) ions and the lattice water mol-ecule are located on twofold rotation axes; the centroid of the benzene-1,2,4,5-tetra-carboxyl-ate anion is located on a centre of inversion. The μ(8)-bridging mode of the anion results in the formation of a three-dimensional structure with channels extending along [100] in which lattice water mol-ecules are situated. The C(6)F(4)I(2) mol-ecule is almost planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0062?Å). In the crystal, the components are connected through O?I halogen bonds [3.017?(11)?Å], leading to the formation of wavelike chains along the a axis. The crystal packing also features C-H?F inter-actions.
