Aqua-(2,2'-bipyridine-?N,N')bis-(4-iodo-benzoato-?O)copper(II).

ABSTRACT: The Cu(II) atom in the title compound, [Cu(C(7)H(4)IO(2))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)], is N,N'-chelated by a 2,2'-bipyridine ligand and is coordinated by two monodentate carboxyl-ate ions and a water mol-ecule in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. The apical site is occupied by one of the carboxyl-ate O atoms. The water mol-ecule forms intra-molecular hydrogen bonds to the uncoordinated carboxyl O atoms. The crystal studied was a nonmerohedral twin with minor components in 0.381?(3) and 0.108?(2) proportions.

Project description:In the title complex, [Zn(C(7)H(5)O(3))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)], the Zn(II) ion is coordinated by two 4-hydroxy-benzoate anions, one 2,2'-bipyridine mol-ecule and one water mol-ecule and displays a distorted octa-hedral geometry. One Zn-O bond [2.5300?(15)?Å] is much longer than the others in the mol-ecule. In the crystal structure, the face-to-face separation of 3.547?(9)?Å suggests no ?-? stacking between parallel bipyridine ring systems, and an extensive O-H?O hydrogen-bonding network between the coordinated water molecule, the phenol group and carboxylate O atoms is present.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Cu(C(7)H(5)O(2))(2)(C(12)H(12)N(2))(H(2)O)], the Cu(II) ion is penta-coordinated in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry by two O atoms of two benzoate anions and two N atoms of a 5,5'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine ligand occupying the basal plane, and a water O atom located at the apical site. In the crystal structure, O-H?O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a supra-molecular structure. The crystal studied was a racemic twin, as suggested by the Flack parameter of 0.584?(14).

Project description:In the centrosymmetric title complex, [Ni(2)(C(14)H(8)O(4)S(2))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)], the Ni(II) atom is coordinated by two N atoms from one 2,2'-bipyridine ligand, three carboxyl-ate O atoms (one bidentate and one monodentate) from two different disulfanediyldibenzoate ligands and one O atom from a coordinated water mol-ecule in an octa-hedral coordination geometry. The disulfanediyldibenzo-ate dianion bridges two Ni(II )atoms. Adjacent mol-ecules are linked through the coordinated water mol-ecules, forming a O-H?O hydrogen-bonded chain running along the a axis.

Project description:The title mononuclear Cu(II) complex, [Cu(C(8)H(5)O(3))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))], is comprised of a Cu(II) cation, two 4-formyl-benzoate (L(-)) ligands and a 2,2'-bipyridine (bipy) ligand. The Cu(II) ion and bipy ligand lie on a crystallographic twofold rotation axis; the Cu(II) ion is coordinated by two N atoms from one bipy ligand and two O atoms from two different carboxyl-ate groups of two L(-) ligands, exhibiting effectively a distorted square-planar geometry. The complex mol-ecules are inter-linked to generate two-dimensional supra-molecular layers in the ab plane, formed by C-H?O hydrogen bonds, where the O acceptor is the O atom from the carboxyl-ate group not involved in coordination to the Cu(II) ion. The two-dimensional layers are stacked in a sequence via C-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions where the formyl O atom acts as acceptor.

Project description:The title complex, [Cu(C(7)H(3)N(2)O(6))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)]·C(4)H(8)O, features a penta-coordinate Cu(II) atom bound by two monodentate carboxyl-ate ligands, a bidentate 2,2'-bipyridine mol-ecule [dihedral angle between pyridine rings = 5.0 (2)°] and a water mol-ecule. The resulting N(2)O(3) donor set defines a distorted square-pyramidal geometry with the coordinated water mol-ecule in the apical position. In the crystal, the presence of O-H(w)⋯O(c) (w = water and c = carbon-yl) hydrogen bonding leads to the formation of a supra-molecular chain propagating along the c axis, which associates into a double chain via C-H⋯ O and π-π contacts between pyridyl rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.527 (3) Å]. The solvent mol-ecules, which are disordered over two orientations in a 0.678 (11):0.322 (11) ratio, occupy voids defined by the complex mol-ecules and are held in place via C-H⋯O inter-actions.

Project description:The title compound, [Cu(C(8)H(7)O(2))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]I·0.5H(2)O, was obtained by the hydro-thermal reaction of copper(I) iodide, 4-methyl-benzoic acid and 2,2'-bipyridine. The initial reactant of Cu(I) was oxidized to Cu(II). The asymmetric unit contains two independent complex mol-ecules, two I(-) ions and one water molecule. Each Cu(II) atom is coordinated by two O atoms from a 4-methyl-benzoate ligand and four N atoms from two 2,2'-bipyridine ligands, displaying a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The structure involves O-H?I hydrogen bonds between the water mol-ecule and iodide ions and ?-? stacking inter-actions between the benzene and pyridyl rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.79?(1)?Å] and between the pyridyl rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.87?(1)?Å].

Project description:In the title complex, [Cu(C(5)H(3)O(2)S)(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)], the Cu(II) atom is in a distorted square-pyramidal environment, with an Addison ? parameter of 0.07. The coordination geometry is defined by two nitro-gen donors from the 2,2'-bipyridine ligand, two O atoms from two monodentate thio-phene-2-carboxyl-ate ligands and one O atom from the aqua ligand. The latter occupies the elongated apical position. This is different from the related structure of aqua-(1,10-phenanthroline)bis-(thio-phene-2-carboxyl-ato)copper(II) where a carboxyl-ate O atom is in the apical position [Feng et al. (2005 ?). Z. Kristallogr. New Cryst. Struct.220, 429-430]. The uncoordinated carboxyl-ate O atoms form intra- and inter-molecular hydrogen bonds to the aqua ligand. Two neighbouring 2,2'-bipyridine ligands form a ?-stack, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.683?(2)?Å.
