Diaqua-(2,2'-bipyridine-?N,N')bis-(perchlorato-?O)copper(II).

ABSTRACT: The central CuN(2)O(4) motif of the title compound, [Cu(ClO(4))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(2)], exhibits a Jahn-Teller-distorted octa-hedral geometry around the metal atom, showing a considerably long Cu-O bond distance of 2.5058?(12)?Å towards the second perchlorate group, giving a (4 + 1+1)-type coordination mode. In the crystal, the components are linked via inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming layers parallel to (001). Additional stabilization within these layers is provided by ?-? [centroid-centroid distances of 3.7848?(9)-4.4231?(9)?Å] stacking inter-actions.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(ClO(4))(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(2)], the Cu(II) atom is coordinated in a square-planar fashion by the two N atoms of a chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and by two water mol-ecules trans to the N atoms. The coordination sphere of the metal atom is augmented by O atoms of two weakly bonded perchlorate anions, thus yielding a strongly distorted CuN(2)O(4) octa-hedral environment. The crystal packing is stabilized by O-H?O hydrogen bonds between the water mol-ecules and the perchlorate anions. Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(ClO(4))(2)(CH(3)CN)(2)(H(2)O)(2)], the Cu(2+) ion, located on a special position (site symmetry [Formula: see text]), is coordinated by six monodentate ligands, viz. an N-coordin-ated acetonitrile, a perchlorate anion and a water mol-ecule, and their symmetry-related counterparts. The perchlorate anion is disordered over two sets of sites with occupancies of 0.53?(2) and 0.47?(2). The crystal structure is stabilized by O-H?O hydrogen bonds involving the perchlorate ion and aqua H atoms.

Project description:The title compound, trans-[Ru(bpy)(2)(H(2)O)(2)](CF(3)SO(3))(2) (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine, C(10)H(8)N(2)), crystallized from the decomposition of an aged aqueous solution of a dimeric complex of cis-Ru(bpy)(2) in 0.1 M triflic acid. The Ru(II) ion is located on a crystallographic inversion center and exhibits a distorted octa-hedral coordination with equivalent ligands trans to each other. The Ru-O distance is 2.1053?(16)?Å and the Ru-N distances are 2.0727?(17) and 2.0739?(17)?Å. The bpy ligands are bent, due to inter-ligand steric inter-actions between H atoms of opposite pyridyl units across the Ru center. The crystal structure exhibits an extensive hydrogen-bonding network involving the water ligands and the trifluoromethane-sulfonate counter-ions within two-dimensional layers, although no close hydrogen-bond inter-actions exist between different layers.

In the crystal, mol-ecules are assembled by C-H⋯O hydrogen bonding and π-π inter-actions between bipy groups [centroid-centroid distances = 3.7686 (16) and 3.7002 (16) Å] into a three-dimensional network. Project description:The title compound, [Cu(2)(C(14)H(8)O(4))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)], was obtained by solvothermal synthesis. The Cu(II) atom is coordinated by one chelating 2,2'-bipyridine ligand and two carboxyl groups from different biphenyl-2,2'-dicarboxyl-ate ligands, leading to a distorted octahedral environment. Each carboxyl-ate group makes one short Cu-O bond [1.9608?(14) and 1.9701?(14)?Å] and one longer Cu-O contact [2.4338?(17) and 2.5541?(17)?Å] to each Cu(II) atom. The biphenyl-2,2'-dicarboxyl-ate ligands bridge between Cu(II) atoms, forming a dinuclear complex around a crystallographic inversion centre.

A supra-molecular network is formed via inter-molecular O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions. ?-? stacking inter-actions between neighboring pyridine rings are also present, the centroid-centroid distance being 3.808?(2)?Å.
