ABSTRACT: The mol-ecule of the title compound, C(15)H(17)NO(2)S, has a C-S-N-C torsion angle of 71.4?(2)°, and the dihedral angle between the benzene rings is 82.83?(16)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into chains along the b axis via C-H?O hydrogen bonds. A C-H?? inter-action is also present in the crystal structure.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the crystal structure of the title compound, C(14)H(15)NO(2)S, contains two mol-ecules. The conformations of the N-C bonds in the C-SO(2)-NH-C segments of the structure have trans and gauche torsion angles with the S=O bonds. Furthermore, the torsion angles of the C-SO(2)-NH-C groups in the two mol-ecules are 46.1?(3) (glide image of mol-ecule 1) and 47.7?(3)° (mol-ecule 2). The ortho-methyl groups in the sulfonyl benzene ring are oriented away from the S=O bonds. The two benzene rings are tilted relative to each other by 67.5?(1) and 72.9?(1)° in the two mol-ecules. N-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds pack the mol-ecules into one-dimensional chains in different directions, resulting in a two-dimensional network.

Project description:The title compound, C(19)H(17)ClN(4)O(3)S, is a Schiff base compound of 5-chloro-salicylaldehyde and sulfamethazine [4-amino-N-(4,6-dimethyl-2-pyrimidin-yl)benzene-sulfonamide]. The geometry around the S atom is distorted tetra-hedral, comprising two O atoms of the sulfonyl group, a C atom of a benzene ring and the amino N atom. The title compound has an intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond and two inter-molecular C-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, which link neighbouring mol-ecules into 10-membered rings. As a result of an unavoidable conformational arrangement, a slightly short intra-molecular contact of distance 2.59 Å exists between an O atom of the sulfonyl group and an H atom of the sulfamethazine benzene ring.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, C(14)H(15)NO(2)S, shows the sulfonamide N atom to be approximately perpendicular to the plane through the S-bound benzene ring [the N-S-C-C torsion angle is -87.4?(3)°] and to lie to the opposide side of this ring to the two sulfonamide O atoms. The N-bound benzene ring is splayed out with respect to the rest of the mol-ecule so that overall, the mol-ecule adopts a twisted conformation. The dihedral angle between the two benzene rings is 64.5?(3)°. In the crystal, supra-molecular chains aligned along the b axis are formed via N-H?O hydrogen bonds.
