19-Benzo-yloxy-13,16-seco-ent-beyeran 13,16-lactone.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(27)H(34)O(5), a beyerane-type diterpenoid prepared by peroxidation and benzoyl-ation of isosteviol, contains a fused six-membered ring system. The O atoms of the benzoic ester and the lactone are disordered with occupancy ratios of 0.6?(4):0.4?(4) and 0.6?(2):0.4?(2), respectively. Three cyclo-hexane rings have chair conformations, whereas the remaining lactone ring adopts a half-chair conformation.

Project description:Root extracts of Holostylis reniformis (Aristolochiaceae) yielded three new natural sesquiterpenes, a sesquiterpene with an unusual carbon skeleton, 4,5-seco-guaiane (7-epi-11-hydroxychabrolidione A, 1), a nine-membered lactone with new carbon skeleton (holostylactone, 2), and a new megastigmane [(6S,7E)-6,9-dihydroxy-10-(2'-hydroxy-ethoxy)-4,7-megastigmadien-3-one, 3], together with bulnesol and sitosterol-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside. The structures of these compounds were determined by spectroscopic analyses and B3LYP/STO-3G** theoretical studies.

Project description:Decandrinin (1), an unprecedented C9-spiro-fused 7,8-seco-ent-abietane, was obtained from the bark of an Indian mangrove, Ceriops decandra, collected in the estuary of Godavari, Andhra Pradesh. The constitution and the relative configuration of 1 were determined by HRMS (ESI) and extensive NMR investigations, and the absolute configuration by circular dichroism (CD) and optical-rotatory dispersion (ORD) spectroscopy in combination with quantum-chemical calculations. Decandrinin is the first 7,8-seco-ent-abietane.

Project description:The mononuclear title complex, [Zn(C(22)H(15)O(5))(2)(C(2)H(5)OH)(2)], contains a Zn(II) atom (site symmetry ) surrounded by six O atoms of the keto groups of two substituted 1,3-diketonate ligands and of two ethanol mol-ecules, resulting in a distorted octa-hedral coordination environment. The mol-ecular configuration is stabilized by an intra-molecular hydrogen bond between the phenolic hy-droxy group and the adjacent keto group. The hy-droxy group acts likewise as an acceptor of an inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bond with the hy-droxy group of the ethanol mol-ecule as the donor. The hydrogen-bonding scheme leads to the formation of supra-molecular layers parallel to (010).

Project description:The title compound, C(29)H(37)NO(6), was isolated from Aconitum zeravschanicum and exhibits anti-arhythmic activity. It is a derivative of the diterpenoid alkaloid heteratisine and as such the core framework of the mol-ecule contains four six-membered, three seven-membered and one five-membered ring. The chair conformation of one of the meth-oxy-substituted six-membered rings is different from that observed in heteratisine hydro-bromide monohydrate. In the latter case, this ring adopts a boat conformation due to a stabilizing intra-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bond. In the crystal structure of the title compound, there is only one acidic H atom. This hydroxyl group forms an inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bond that links mol-ecules into infinite chains along the b axis.

Project description:The title salt (I), C6H8N+·C20H17O8-, comprises a 2-methyl-pyridinium cation and a 2,3-bis-(4-methyl-benzo-yloxy)succinate mono-anion while the salt (II), 2C6H8N+·2C20H17O8-·5H2O, consists of a pair of 4-methyl-pyridinium cations and 2,3-bis-(4-methyl-benzo-yloxy)succinate mono-anions and five water mol-ecules of solvation in the asymmetric unit. In (I), the dihedral angle between the aromatic rings of the anion is 40.41 (15)°, comparing with 43.0 (3) and 85.7 (2)° in the conformationally dissimilar anion mol-ecules in (II). The pyridine ring of the cation in (I) is inclined at 23.64 (16) and 42.69 (17)° to the two benzene moieties of the anion. In (II), these comparative values are 4.7 (3), 43.5 (3)° and 43.5 (3), 73.1 (3)° for the two associated cation and anion pairs. The crystal packing of (I) is stabilized by inter-ionic N-H⋯O, O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds as well as weak C-H⋯π inter-actions, linking the ions into infinite chains along [100]. In the crystal packing of (II), the anions and cations are also linked by N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving also the water mol-ecules, giving a two-dimensional network across (001). The crystal structure is also stabilized by weak C-H⋯O and C-H⋯π inter-actions.

Project description:The title compound, C(21)H(30)O(6), a natural ent-kaurane diterpenoid, was obtained from the medicinal plant Isodon serra. The five rings in the mol-ecule exhibit the expected cis and trans junctions. The three six-membered rings adopt chair, twist-boat and boat conformations, while two five-membered rings adopt envelope conformations. There are two mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit, related by a non-crystallographic twofold screw axis; the main difference is in the different degrees of distortion of ring B. In the crystal, the mol-ecules are linked by inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming chains along the b axis.
