ABSTRACT: In the title compound, (C(10)H(24)N)(2)[Cu(2)Cl(6)], N,N-diisopropyl-butanamine is protonated on the N atom. The Cu(II) atom in the centrosymmetric [Cu(2)Cl(6)](2-) anion has a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. In the crystal, the cations and anions are connected by N-H?Cl and C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds into layers parallel to (100).

Project description:The structure of the title compound, (C(19)H(18)N(3))(2)[CuCl(4)], consists of square-planar [CuCl(4)](2-) anions and triphenyl-guanidinium cations. The Cu(II) ion occupies a crystallographic inversion centre. In the cation, the dihedral angles between the phenyl rings and the plane defined by the central guanidinium fragment are in the range 51.9 (4)-64.4 (3)°. N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds assemble the ions into infinite chains running along the b axis.

Crystal structure of the thermochromic bis-(di-ethyl-ammonium) tetra-chlorido-cuprate(II) complex.

Project description:In the structure of the title complex salt, (Et2NH2)2[CuCl4], the asymmetric unit consists of four unique di-ethyl-ammonium cations and three unique tetra-chlorido-cuprate anions. Two of the three anions are located with their copper atoms on independent crystallographic twofold axes, while the remaining tetra-chlorido-cuprate is located at a general position of the ortho-rhom-bic space group P21212. Two of the three Cu atoms adopt a distorted square-planar/disphenoidal geometry and the third Cu atom has a regular square-planar coordination environment. The di-ethyl-ammonium cations form an extensive hydrogen-bonded network through N-H?Cl inter-actions with the tetra-chlorido-cuprate anions, resulting in a two-dimensional sheet-like hydrogen-bonded network parallel to the ab direction. The complex was observed to undergo a color shift from deep green at room temperature to pale yellow at temperatures above 328?K.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, (C(6)H(14)N)(2)[CuCl(4)], consists of two inequivalent 1-methyl-piperidinium cations and a flattened tetra-hedral [CuCl(4)](2-) anion. Each organic cation exhibits a chair conformation with the methyl group in the equatorial position. They are segregated into alternating layers parallel to (100) and stacked along [100]. The first cation is arranged in parallel stacks in a herringbone pattern with rows of [CuCl(4)](2-) anions fitting between the stacks and with a Cl(-) ion directed into the inter-ior of the layer. The second organic cation forms distorted hcp layers that separate the other organic cation/[CuCl(4)](2-) slabs. N-H?Cl hydrogen bonding between the cations and the anions consolidates the crystal packing.

Bis[4-(di-methyl-amino)-pyridinium] tetra-chlorido-cuprate(II).

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title salt, (C7H11N2)2[CuCl4], comprises half a tetrahedral tetra-chlorido-cuprate anion, being located on a twofold axis, and a protonated 4-(di-methyl-amino)-pyridine cation. The geometry around the Cu(II) ion is highly distorted with the range of Cl-Cu-Cl angles being 94.94?(1)-141.03?(1)°. The crystal structure is stabilized by N-H?Cl and C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds. In the three-dimensional network, cations and anions pack in the lattice so as to generate chains of [CuCl4](2-) anions separated by two orientations of cation layers, which are inter-locked through ?-? stacking contacts between pairs of pyridine rings, with centroid-centroid distances of 3.7874?(7)?Å.

Bis(3-methyl-pyridinium) tetra-(chlorido/bromido)cuprate(II).

Project description:The structure of the title salt, (C(6)H(8)N)(2)[CuCl(3.4)Br(0.6)], consists of two 3-methyl-pyridinium cations and a distorted tetra-hedral [CuCl(3.4)Br(0.6)](2-) dianion. Substitutional disorder with Br is exhibited for three of the Cl atoms of the anion, giving a mixed chloride/bromide cuprate(II) anion. In the crystal, inter-molecular N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds link two cations to one anion, forming a three-ion aggregate. These are connected into a supra-molecular chain along the b axis via ?-? inter-actions between the pyridinium rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.743?(3)?Å].

Crystal structure of a chloride-bridged copper(II) dimer: piperazine-1,4-dium bis-(di-?-chlorido-bis[(4-carboxypyridine-2-carboxyl-ato-?2N,O2)chlorido-cuprate(II)].

Project description:Crystals of a new dimeric chloride-bridged cuprate(II) derived from pyridine-2,4-di-carb-oxy-lic acid were obtained solvothermally in the presence of piperazine and hydro-chloric acid. The crystal structure determination of the title salt, (C4H12N2)[Cu2(C7H4NO4)2Cl4], revealed one of the carboxyl groups of the original pyridine-2,4-di-carb-oxy-lic acid ligand to be protonated, whereas the other is deprotonated and binds together with the pyridine N atom to the CuII atom. The coordination environment of the CuII atom is distorted square-pyramidal. One of the chloride ligands bridges two metal cations to form a centrosymmetric dimer with two different Cu-Cl distances of 2.2632?(8) and 2.7853?(8)?Å, whereby the longer distance is associated with the apical ligand. The remaining chloride ligand is terminal at one of the basal positions, with a distance of 2.2272?(9)?Å. In the crystal, the dimers are linked by inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds, together with N-H?O and N-H?Cl inter-actions involving the centrosymmetric organic cation, into a three-dimensional supra-molecular network. Further but weaker C-H?O and C-H?Cl inter-actions consolidate the packing.

Project description:The centrosymmetric title compound, [Pd(2)Cl(2)(C(27)H(26)N)(2)], was obtained by a C-H bond-activation reaction of a Schiff base ligand with Li(2)PdCl(4) in methanol, and was crystallized from dichloro-methane as orange crystals. The Pd atom displays a slightly distorted square-planar geometry, with the N- and C-atom donors in a cis arrangement.

Crystal structure of di-chlorido-bis-(1,3-diisopropyl-4,5-dimethyl-2H-imidazole-2-thione-?S)zinc(II).

Project description:The mol-ecular structure of the title compound, [ZnCl2(C11H20N2S)2], shows tetra-hedral Zn coordination from two Cl ligands and two thione groups. The Zn-Cl bond lengths differ sligthly at 2.2310?(10) and 2.2396?(11)?Å while the Zn-S bond lengths are equal at 2.3663?(9) and 2.3701?(10)?Å. The Cl-Zn-Cl angle is 116.04?(4) and S-Zn-S is 101.98?(3)°. All other angles at the central Zn atom range from 108.108?(3) to 110.21?(4)°. The C-S-Zn angles are 100.75?(10) and 103.68?(11)°, the difference most probably resulting from packing effects, as both the C-S and both the S-Zn bonds are equal in each case. The two imidazole ring planes make a dihedral angle of 67.9?(1)°. The CH3 groups of one isopropyl moiety are disordered over two sets of sites with occupation factors of 0.567?(15) and 0.433?(15). It may be noteworthy that the isomolecular Cu complex shows a different crystal packing (group-subgroup relation) with the Cu atom lying on a twofold rotation axis. In the crystal, the shortest non-bonding contact is a C-H?Cl inter-action. This leads to the formation of centrosymmetric dimers that are stacked along the c-axis.

Each Cd(2+) ion is further coordinated by an additional Cl(-) ion and three N atoms of a tridentate 8-[2-(di-methyl-amino)-ethyl-amino]-quinoline ligand in the form of a considerably distorted octa-hedron for the overall coordination sphere. A lattice water mol-ecule is located on a twofold rotation axis and links pairs of complexes through N-H?O and O-H?Cl hydrogen bonds.
