ABSTRACT: In the polymeric title compound, [Ca(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(H(2)O)(C(2)H(6)OS)](n), the Ca(II) ion is coordinated in a distorted penta-gonal-bipyramidal CdNO(6) geometry. The crystal packing is stabilized by O-H?O hydrogen bonds and ?-? stacking inter-actions between the aromatic rings of pyridine-2,5-dicarb-oxy-late with centroid-centroid distances of 3.6166?(13)?Å.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, {[Fe(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(2)(H(2)O)(6)]·4H(2)O}(n), there are two types of coordination for the Fe(II) atoms. One Fe(II) atom is in a distorted octa-hedral N(2)O(4) environment, with two chelating rings from the pyridine-dicarboxyl-ate ligands and two O atoms from the water mol-ecules, while the other is in a distorted octa-hedral O(6) environment with two O atoms from the pyridine-dicarboxyl-ate ligands and four O atoms from the water mol-ecules. Both Fe(II) atoms lie on crystallographic centers of symmetry. The complex possesses an infinite chain structure running along the [101] direction. These chains are inter-connected by the uncoordinated water mol-ecules through O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The polymeric title compound, {(C(4)H(12)N(2))[Zn(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(2)(H(2)O)]·2H(2)O}(n), was obtained by the reaction of zinc(II) nitrate hexa-hydrate with the proton-transfer compound (pipzH(2))(py-2,5-dc) (where pipz is piperazine and py-2,5-dcH(2) is pyridine-2,5-dicarboxylic acid) in aqueous solution. Each Zn(II) atom is coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by four O atoms and two N atoms from one water mol-ecule and two (py-2,5-dc)(2-) ligands, which also act as bridging ligands between Zn(II) atoms. π-π Stacking inter-actions between two aromatic rings of (py-2,5-dc)(2-) fragments, with centroid-centroid distances of 3.4747 (7) and 3.7081 (7) Å are observed. The crystal structure is stabilized by O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title polymeric complex, [Sr(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(H(2)O)(2)](n), the Sr(II) atom is eight-coordinated by four O atoms and one N atom of four pyridine-2,4-dicarboxyl-ate (py-2,4-dc) ligands and three O atoms of three coordinated water mol-ecules in a dodeca-hedral geometry. These units are connected via the carboxyl-ate O atoms and water mol-ecules, building polymeric layers parallel to (100). In the crystal structure, non-covalent inter-actions consisting of O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.862 (17) and 3.749 (17) Å] connect the various components, forming a three-dimensional structure.

Project description:There are two independent La(III) cations in the polymeric title compound, {[La(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(3)(H(2)O)(4)]·2H(2)O}(n). One is nine-coordinated in an LaN(2)O(7) tricapped trigonal-prismatic geometry formed by three pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate anions and two water mol-ecules, while the other is ten-coordinated in an LaNO(9) bicapped square-anti-prismatic geometry formed by four pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate anions and two water mol-ecules. The two La(III) cations are separated by a non-bonding distance of 5.026 (3) Å. The pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate anions bridge the La(III) cations, forming a three-dimensional polymeric complex. The crystal structure contains extensive classical O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The crystal structure is further consolidated by π-π stacking between pyridine rings, the shortest centroid-centroid distance between parallel pyridine rings being 3.700 (5) Å.

Project description:The reaction of strontium(II) nitrate with the proton-transfer compound (pdaH(2))(py-3,5-dc)·H(2)O (where pda = propane-1,3-diamine and py-3,5-dcH(2) = pyridine-3,5-dicarboxylic acid) leads to the formation of the title polymeric compound, [Sr(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(H(2)O)(4)](n). The propane-1,3-diaminium cation is not incorporated in this crystal structure. The Sr(II) atom lies on an inversion centre and is eight-coordinated by four O atoms from three py-3,5-dc ligands and four O atoms from four coordinated water mol-ecules. The coordination polyhedron of the Sr(II) atom is a distorted dodeca-hedron. These binuclear units are connected via the carboxyl-ate O atoms to build a one-dimensional polymeric chain. In the crystal structure, non-covalant inter-actions consisting of hydrogen bonds (X-H⋯O, with X = O and C) and π-π stacking inter-actions [3.4604 (19) Å] connect the various components to form a supra-molecular structure.

Project description:The title compound, {(C(4)H(12)N(2))[Bi(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(4)(H(2)O)]·H(2)O}(n) or {(pipzH(2))[Bi(2)(pydc)(4)(H(2)O)]·H(2)O}(n), where pydcH(2) is pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid and pipz is piperazine, was obtained by reaction of Bi(NO(3))(3)·5H(2)O with (pipzH(2))(pydc-H)(2)·3H(2)O in a 1:2 molar ratio in aqueous solution. There are two independent Bi(III) atoms in the structure, one of which is eight-coordinate with a distorted bicapped trigonal-prismatic geometry, and another which is nine-coordinate with a distorted tricapped trigonal-prismatic geometry. The carboxyl-ate groups of the (pydc)(2-) ligands link dinuclear [Bi(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(4)(H(2)O)](2-) units into one-dimensional coordin-ation polymers. The pipzH(2) (2+) cations (site symmetry ) and non-coordinated water mol-ecules lie between these polymers, forming N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds to the O atoms of the carboxylate groups.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title polymeric compound, [Zn(3)(C(10)H(8)O(4))(3)(C(5)H(5)N)(2)](n) or [Zn(3)(dmbdc)(3)(py)(2)](n) (dmbdc = 2,5-dimethyl-benzene-dicarboxyl-ate; py = pyridine) contains two Zn(II) ions, one of which is located on an inversion centre, one and a half 2,5-dimethyl-benzene-dicarboxyl-ate ligands and one pyridine ligand. Each ZnO(6) octa-hedron is sandwiched between two ZnO(4)N square-pyramids, forming a trinuclear zinc secondary building unit (SBU); each SBU is further linked by six 2,5-dimethyl-benzene-dicarboxyl-ate ligands with six adjacent trinuclear zinc SBU's, forming a two-dimensional layer structure with a (3,6) net. One of the three zinc ions is octa-hedrally coordinated and the other two are square-pyramidally coordinated. The coordination modes for 2,5-dimethyl-benzene-dicarboxyl-ates are bis-(bidentate) or bidentate-tridentate.

Each of the metal cations is coordinated by two N atoms and two O atoms from two pyridine-2,5-dicarboxyl-ate ligands, two O atoms from another two pyridine-2,5-dicarboxyl-ate ligands and two water O atoms. The Pr(III) ions are bridged by two ligands along the c axis, forming the dimeric unit, and these are connected by four ligands along the b axis, forming a chain. N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds are found in the structure.
