Project description:The title compound, C9H12N2OS4·0.5C6H5Cl, which contains two 1,3-thia-zolidine-2-thione rings, is a by-product of the synthesis of 3-acryloyl-1,3-thia-zolidine-2-thione. The dihedral angle between these rings is 79.95?(9)°, with both rings displaying a twisted conformation. The twist angle of the amide group is 5.6?(1)°. In the crystal, the molecules are linked into [001] chains by C-H?O interactions. The chloro-benzene solvent mol-ecule was found to show unresolvable disorder about a centre of inversion and its contribution to the scattering was removed with the SQUEEZE option in PLATON [Spek (2009 ?). Project description:In the crystal structures of the title compounds, C15H11Cl2NOS, (1), and C15H11Cl2NO2S, (2), wherein (2) is the oxidized form of (1), the thia-zolidine ring is attached to two chloro-phenyl rings. The chloro-phenyl ring on the 2-carbon atom position points in the same direction as that of the S atom in (1), while in (2), the S atom points in the opposite direction. The O atom on the chiral S atom in (2) is trans to the chloro-phenyl ring on the 2-carbon. The chloro-phenyl ring planes in each structure are close to orthogonal, making dihedral angles of 78.61 (6) and 87.46 (8)° in (1) and (2), respectively. The thia-zolidine ring has a twisted conformation on the S-Cmethine bond in (1), and an envelope conformation with the S atom 0.715 (3) Å out of the plane of other four atoms in (2). In the crystal of (1), mol-ecules are linked by C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, as well as by slipped parallel π-π inter-actions [inter-centroid distance = 3.840 (3) Å] between inversion-related phenyl rings, forming sheets parallel to (001). In the crystal of (2), mol-ecules are linked via C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, forming slabs parallel to (001).

In the mol-ecules, the thia-zole ring is essentially planar [maximum atomic deviations = 0.014 (4) and 0.023 (5) Å] and is oriented with respect to the fluoro-phenyl ring and chloro-phenyl rings at 9.96 (18) and 70.39 (18)° in one mol-ecule and at 7.50 (18) and 68.43 (18)° in the other; the dihedral angles between the fluoro-phenyl and chloro-phenyl rings are 64.9 (2) and 64.6 (2)°, respectively. Inter-molecular C-H⋯O and C-H⋯F hydrogen bonds stabilize the three-dimensional supra-molecular architecture. Weak C-H⋯π and π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.877 (3) Å] lead to a criss-cross mol-ecular packing along the c axis.
