Monoclinic polymorph of 2-(pyrimidin-2-ylsulfan-yl)acetic acid.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(6)H(6)N(2)O(2)S, is a new polymorphic form of 2-(pyrimidin-2-ylsulfan-yl)acetic acid. Unlike the previous orthorhombic polymorph [Pan & Chen (2009 ?) Acta Cryst. E65, o652], the mol-ecules are not planar: the aromatic ring makes an angle of 80.67?(17)° with the carboxyl plane. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by O-H?N hydrogen bonds into chains along [02].

In the crystal, the dimers are linked into sheets by C-H⋯O inter-actions, forming R(4) (2)(12) and R(2) (2)(8) edge-fused rings running parallel to [101]. There are no inter-molecular inter-actions involving the S atoms.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(7)H(11)NO(3)S(2), contains two independent mol-ecules with similar mol-ecular structures. The morpholine ring adopts a chair conformation, and the C(2)N-C(=S)-S fragment is planar in the two independent mol-ecules (r.m.s. deviations = 0.01 and 0.02?Å). The two mol-ecules are disposed about a false center of inversion and are held together by a pair of O-H?O hydrogen bonds. The crystal studied was a racemic twin; the minor twin component refined to 17%.

Monoclinic polymorph of 4-[(1H-benz-imidazol-1-yl)meth-yl]benzoic acid.

Project description:Three polymorphs of the title compound, C(15)H(12)N(2)O(2), were obtained accidentally as single crystals in the hydro-thermal reaction of the title compound with manganese bromide in the presence of N,N'-dimethyl-formamide at 373?K. Here we report the structure of the first polymorph. The benzimidazole ring is almost planar, the maximum deviation from the mean plane being 0.016?(1)?Å. The benzimidazole and benzene rings are approximately perpendicular, making a dihedral angle 85.56?(7)°, which is a reflection of the axial rotation of the flexible benzimidazolyl arm. In the crystal, adjacent mol-ecules are connected through O-H?N hydrogen bonds into a chain along [100], and neighboring chains are further linked by via weak C-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions, forming a two-dimensional network.

Second monoclinic polymorph of 4-[(1H-benzimidazol-1-yl)meth-yl]benzoic acid.

Project description:Recently, we reported the first monoclinic [Kuai & Cheng (2011). Acta Cryst., E67, o2787] and the ortho-rhom-bic polymorph [Kuai & Cheng (2011). Acta Cryst., E67, o3014] of the title compound, C(15)H(12)N(2)O(2). Another monoclinic polymorph was obtained accidentally by the hydro-thermal reaction of the title compound with manganese chloride in the presence of potassium hydroxide at 413 K. The asymmetric unit consists of four independent mol-ecules. In the crystal, O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds link the independent mol-ecules into four separate chains parallel to the b axis.

Project description:A new polymorph of 2-(benzotriazol-2-yl)acetic acid, C(8)H(7)N(3)O(2), crystallizes in the space group C2/c (Z = 8). The non-planar mol-ecule has a synplanar conformation of the carb-oxy group. The crystal structure features helices parallel to the b axis sustained by O-H?N hydrogen bonding which are similar to those in the known polymorph [Giordano & Zagari (1978 ?). J. Chem. Soc. Perkin Trans. 2, pp. 312-315]. However, in the title structure, columns are formed by ?-? stacking inter-actions between benzotriazole fragments of centrosymmetrically related adjacent mol-ecules [centroid-centroid distances = 3.593?(10) and 3.381?(10)?Å] whereas ?-? stacking inter-actions are not observed in the other polymorph. In the crystal of the title compound, C-H?O inter-actions are also observed.

Project description:The tripodal character of the title compound, C(33)H(30)N(10)S(3), arises from the three thio-ether arms surrounding a central amine N atom. The three arms have approximately the same conformation but distinct geometries in a trans-trans-cis conformation, resulting in a short pyridine-sulfanyl N⋯S distance of 4.320 (7) Å. The distances of the central N atom to the N atoms of three pyridine rings in the arms are 8.305 (7), 8.032 (7) and 5.076 (9)Å. In the crystal, mol-ecules are joined into a three-dimensional supra-molecular network via effective π-π stacking between adjacent heterocycles [centroid-centroid distances of 3.700 (3)-4.118 (4) Å between adjacent inter-layer pyrimidine rings and 3.676 (4) Å between the pyridine rings].
