ABSTRACT: In the title mol-ecule, C(9)H(4)I(2)OS(2), the two five-membered rings form a dihedral angle of 64.2?(2)°. In the crystal, weak inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into layers parallel to the ab plane. The crystal packing exhibits short C?I contacts of 3.442?(5)?Å between the mol-ecules of adjacent layers.

The central benzene ring makes dihedral angles of 63.31 (9) and 60.86 (9)°, respectively, with the 4-methyl-phenyl and thio-phene rings. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and S⋯π [3.609 (3) Å] inter-actions.

Project description:In the title compound, C(20)H(16)O(4)S, the thiophene ring makes dihedral angles of 72.9?(2) and 60.5?(2)°, respectively, with the dimethoxy benzene and phenyl rings. In the crystal, C-H?O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a C(9) chain along the b axis. The S and C atoms of the thio-phene ring are disordered over two sets of sites [site occupancies = 0.675?(3) and 0.325?(3)]. A short inter-molecular S?O contact [3.084?(2)?Å] is observed in the crystal structure, which also features C-H?? inter-actions.

Project description:In the title compound, C(13)H(10)O(3), a benzophenone derivative, the least-squares planes defined by the C atoms of the 2-hy-droxy-phenyl rings inter-sect at an angle of 45.49?(3)°. The substituents on the aromatic systems are both orientated towards the central O atom. Intra- as well as inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds are observed, the latter giving rise to the formation of centrosymmetric dimers. The closest centroid-centroid distance between two ?-systems is 3.7934?(7)?Å.

In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and C-H⋯π inter-actions, forming layers parallel to (100).

Bis[4-(diphenyl-methyl-eneamino)phen-yl]methanone.

Project description:The title mol-ecule, C(39)H(28)N(2)O, is a well known dendron used in the synthesis of phenyl-azomethine dendrimers. The central benzophenone core is twisted, as expected, due to hindrance between H atoms: the dihedral angle between core benzene rings is 54.49?(5)°, identical to that of the stable polymorph of benzophenone (56°). For the same reason, phenyl groups substituting imine C atoms make a large dihedral angle, although similar for each imine: 71.83?(6) and 67.64?(5)°. The six aromatic rings in the mol-ecule thus seem to be quite randomly oriented, and such an arrangement is not favorable for efficient stacking inter-actions in the crystal. The same behaviour is observed in the vast majority of diphenyl-imino-containing organics. The low triclinic crystal symmetry may be a consequence of these features.

Project description:The crystal studied of the title compound, C(19)H(13)NO(3)S(2), was found to be a non-merohedral twin with a domain ratio of 0.877 (3):0.123 (3). There are two independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. The dihedral angles between the mean plane of the indole ring system and the phenyl-sulfonyl ring are 71.67 (13) and 71.95 (13)° in the two mol-ecules while the indole unit and the thiophene ring make dihedral angles of 54.91 (12) and 56.92 (13)° in the two molecules. The crystal packing is stabilized by weak C-H⋯π inter-actions.

Crystal structure of 1,3-bis-(4-hexyl-5-iodo-thio-phen-2-yl)-4,5,6,7-tetra-hydro-2-benzo-thio-phene.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, C28H36I2S3, a terthio-phene monomer, the central thio-phene unit is arranged anti-coplanar to the two outer thio-phene rings. There are two crystallographically independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit, which show different conformations. In one mol-ecule, the dihedral angles between the inner and the two outer thiophene rings are 15.7 (3) and 3.47 (3)°, whereas these values are 4.2 (3) and 11.3 (3)° for the second mol-ecule. Differences are also found in the arrangement of the hexyl chains: in one of the two molecules, both chains are nearly in plane to the central moiety, whereas in the second molecule, only one chain is in plane and the other one is nearly perpendicular to the central moiety. Some of the C atoms are disordered and were refined using a split model with occupancy ratios of 0.65:0.35 and 0.70:0.30 in the two mol-ecules.

Project description:In the title compound, C22H19NOS, the cyclo-hexene ring of the tetra-hydro-benzo-thio-phenyl ring system adopts a slightly distorted half-chair conformation and is twisted slightly [7.5?(8)° for the major disorder component] from the mean plane of the thio-phene ring. The dihedral angles between the mean planes of the thio-phene ring and the phenyl rings are 65.7?(3) and 8.3?(4)°. The phenyl rings are twisted with respect to each other by 73.8?(7)°. Disorder was modeled for four C atoms of the cyclo-hexene ring over two sets of sites with an occupancy ratio of 0.659?(2):0.341?(2). In the crystal, a single weak C-H?O inter-action links the mol-ecules into [001] chains.

In the mol-ecule, the dihedral angle between the planes of the two benzene rings is 65.8 (4)° which compares with 64.7 (7)° in DDT.

Project description:In the title compound, C22H18N2O3S, disorder is found in the benzoyl group (A and B), as well as for four C atoms of the cyclo-hexene ring. Two orientations were modeled in a 0.583?(5):0.417?(5) ratio. The cyclo-hexene ring is in a distorted chair conformation. The dihedral angles between the mean plane of the thio-phene ring and the 4-nitro-benzene and phenyl rings are 30.9?(8) and 64.8?(3) (A) and 62.4?(7)° (B). The mean planes of the 4-nitro-benzene and the phenyl rings are almost perpendicular to each other, with dihedral angles of 85.4?(1) (A) and 83.9?(8)° (B). An extensive array of weak C-H?O inter-actions consolidate mol-ecules into a three-dimensional architecture, forming chains along [001] and [010] and layers parallel to (011).
