The abundance and inherent potential for variations in simple sequence repeats (SSRs) or microsatellites resulted in valuable source for genetic markers in eukaryotes. We describe the organization and abundance of SSRs in fungus Fusarium graminearum (causative agent for Fusarium head blight or head scab of wheat).
