Coenzyme Q is an isoprenylated benzoquinone lipid that functions in respiratory electron transport and as a lipid antioxidant. Dietary supplementation with Q is increasingly used as a therapeutic for treatment of mitochondrial and neurodegenerative diseases, yet little is known regarding the mechanism of its uptake.
