ABSTRACT: In the crystal structure of the title compound, C(16)H(15)NO(3), inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into chains parallel to the b axis and pairs of inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds between inversion-related carb-oxy-lic acid groups link the mol-ecules into dimers. The dihedral angle between the two benzene rings is 82.4?(2)°.

Project description:In the title mol-ecule, C14H10ClNO3, the amide C=O bond is anti to the o-carb-oxy substituent in the adjacent benzene ring, a conformation that facilitates the formation of an intra-molecular amide-N-H?O(carbon-yl) hydrogen bond that closes an S(6) loop. The central amide segment is twisted away from the carb-oxy- and chloro-substituted benzene rings by 13.93?(17) and 15.26?(15)°, respectively. The most prominent supra-molecular inter-actions in the crystal packing are carb-oxy-lic acid-H?O(carbox-yl) hydrogen bonds that lead to centrosymmetric dimeric aggregates connected by eight-membered {?HOC=O}2 synthons.

Project description:In the title compound, C14H11NO4, the dihedral angle between the mean planes of the aromatic rings is 3.96?(12)° and an intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bond closes an S(6) ring. A short intra-molecular C-H?O contact is also seen. In the crystal, carb-oxy-lic acid inversion dimers linked by pairs of O-H?O hydrogen bonds generate R 2 (2)(8) loops. Conversely, the N-H group does not form a hydrogen bond. Aromatic ?-? inter-actions exist at a centroid-centroid distance of 3.8423?(15)?Å between the benzene rings. An extremely weak C-H?? inter-action also is present.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(8)H(9)NO(2), contains three crystallographically independent mol-ecules, which are essentially planar, the carboxyl O atoms deviating by 0.091?(3), 0.101?(2) and 0.164?(3)?Å from the mean plane through the non-H atoms. In the crystal, all three mol-ecules form O-H?O hydrogen-bonded about inversion centers, forming eight-membered rings with graph-set notation R(2) (2)(8). In addition, N-H?O hydrogen bonding and C-H?? inter-actions reinforce the packing.

Redetermination of 3-methyl-benzoic acid.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(8)H(8)O(2), contains two crystallographically independent mol-ecules, which form dimers linked by O?H-O hydrogen bonds. The benzene rings in the dimers are inclined at a dihedral angle of 7.30?(8)° and both methyl groups display rotational disorder. This redetermination results in a crystal structure with significantly higher precision than the original determination [Ellas & García-Blanco (1963 ?). Acta Cryst. 16, 434], in which the authors reported only the unit-cell parameters and space group, without any detailed information on the atomic arrangement. In the crystal, dimers are connected by weak C-H?O inter-actions, forming R(2) (2)(10) and R(4) (4)(18) rings along [110] and an infinite zigzag chain of dimers along the [001] direction also occurs.

Project description:The title compound, C(16)H(16)N(2)O(5)S, is a potent new fungicide. There are two mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit which are linked by C-H⋯π inter-actions, forming a dimer. The two phenyl rings in each mol-ecules are almost coplanar, with C-N-C-C torsion angles of 177.6 (2) and -172.5 (2)°. There are inter-molecular and intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds in the crystal structure.

The dihedral angle between the two benzene rings is 3.32?(3)°. Intra-molecular N-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds form S(6) rings and contribute to the planarity of this portion of the mol-ecule. In the crystal, inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds are observed, which link the mol-ecules into [010] C(7) chains.
