ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(16)H(20)N(2)O(3), the crystal packing is stabilized by weak ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.577?(9) and 3.693?(9)?Å] and inter-molecular C-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen-bond inter-actions. The C atoms of the N-isopropyl group are disordered over two sets of sites with occupancies of 0.61(3) and 0.39(3).

Project description:The title compound, C(20)H(20)N(2)O(4), crystallizes with four independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. In the mol-ecules, the dihedral angles between the benzene rings and indole mean planes are 24.5 (1), 22.5 (1), 8.8 (1) and 13.9 (1)°. In the crystal, inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds are present between the imino groups and the adjacent carbonyl groups. π-π stacking is also observed with a centroid-centroid distance between nearly parallel pyrrole rings of 3.745 (3) Å.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(19)H(16)N(2)O(3), comprises three independent mol-ecules (A, B and C). The inversion-related molecule of A is virtually superimposable upon the other two molecules. In each mol-ecule, there is a twist in the link between the approximately syn carbonyl and amine groups [the N-C-C-O torsion angles range from 19.73?(19) to -21.2?(2)°]. Each mol-ecule has a bent shape quanti-fied in terms of the dihedral angle between the indole and indole fused-ring systems [range = 45.69?(5)-47.91?(5)°]. In the crystal, the A and B mol-ecules form dimeric aggregates via ten-membered {?HNC(2)O}(2) synthons, while the C mol-ecules self-associate similarly but about a centre of inversion.
