ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(15)H(16)BrNO(3)S, the boat form of the six-membered ring is almost symmetrical with respect to the ep-oxy bridge. The two five-membered rings generated by the ep-oxy bridge of the six-membered ring adopt envelope conformations, whereas the N-containing five-membered ring adopts a twisted conformation. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The mol-ecule of the title compound, C(16)H(21)BO(2), comprises a chiral fused tricyclic system containing five-membered (1,3,2-dioxaborolane), six-membered (cyclo-hexa-ne) and four-membered (cyclo-butane) rings. The 1,3,2-dioxaborolane ring is almost planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.035 Å), and the syn H and Me substituents at this ring are in an eclipsed conformation. The cyclo-hexane and cyclo-butane rings adopt sofa and butterfly conformations, respectively. The B atom has a trigonal-planar configuration (sum of the bond angles = 360.0°). The phenyl ring is practically coplanar with the 1,3,2-dioxaborolane ring [dihedral angle between the ring planes = 1.96 (8)°]. The absolute structure was determined from the known configuration of (+)-pinanediol which was used in the synthesis. In the crystal, weak C-H⋯π(Ph) inter-actions occur.

Project description:The title compound, C24H24N2O5S, crystallizes with two independent mol-ecules (A and B) in the asymmetric unit. In the central ring systems of both mol-ecules, the tetra-hydro-furan rings adopt envelope conformations, the pyrrolidine rings adopt a twisted-envelope conformation and the six-membered ring is in a boat conformation. In mol-ecules A and B, the nine-membered groups attached to the central ring system are essentially planar (r.m.s. deviations of 0.002 and 0.003 Å, respectively). They form dihedral angles of 64.97 (9) and 56.06 (10)°, respectively, with the phenyl rings. In the crystal, strong inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O contacts link the mol-ecules, forming a three-dimensional network. In addition weak π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-to centroid distance = 3.7124 (13) Å] between the pyrrolidine rings of the nine-membered groups of A mol-ecules are observed. Hirshfeld surface analysis and two-dimensional fingerprint plots were used to qu-antify the inter-molecular inter-actions present in the crystal, indicating that the environments of the two mol-ecules are very similar. The most important contributions for the crystal packing are from H⋯H (55.8% for mol-ecule A and 53.5% for mol-ecule B), O⋯H/H⋯O (24.5% for mol-ecule A and 26.3% for mol-ecule B) and C⋯H/H⋯C (12.6% for mol-ecule A and 15.7% for mol-ecule B) inter-actions.

Project description:The title hydrate, C17H28O2·H2O, was synthesized in order to determine the relative configuration of the tetra-cyclic framework. The fused 5,6,7-tricarbocyclic core exhibits an entire cis-annulation, featuring a 1,4-cis-relation of the angular methyl groups in the six-membered ring. The oxa bridge of the ep-oxy-cyclo-heptane moiety is oriented towards the concave face of the boat-shaped mol-ecule, whereas the angular methyl groups are directed towards the convex face. The asymmetric unit of the crystal contains two nearly identical formula units, which are related via a pseudo-centre of symmetry. The structure could be solved in the space groups I-4 and I41/a. The refinement in the acentric space group, however, gave significantly better results and these are used in this paper. O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds are observed between the organic mol-ecules, between the organic mol-ecules and the water mol-ecules, and between the water mol-ecules, forming a chain along the c-axis direction.

Project description:The chiral title compound, C(19)H(32)O(2), contains a [4.3.0]-bicyclic moiety in which the shared C-C bond presents a trans configuration and a side chain in which the C=C double bond shows an E conformation. The conformations of five- and six-membered rings are envelope (with the bridgehead atom bearing the methyl substituent as the flap) and chair, respectively, with a dihedral angle of 4.08 (17)° between the idealized planes of the rings. In the crystal, the mol-ecules are self-assembled via classical O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming chains along [112]; these chains are linked by weak non-classical C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, giving a two-dimensional supra-molecular structure parallel to (010). The absolute configuration was established according to the configuration of the starting material.
