In the crystal, the presence of C-H?O contacts leads to the formation of supra-molecular chains along the b axis. These aggregate into layers that stack along c.

Project description:In the title compound, C13H11ClO2, the dihedral angle between the mean planes of the 2-chloro-phenyl and phenol rings is 87.4?(9)°. The methyl hy-droxy group lies nearly perpendicular to the plane of its attached benzene ring [O-C-C-C torsion angle = 84.3?(3)°]. The two hy-droxy groups lie on the same side of the mol-ecule and are in a slightly twisted gauche conformation [O-C-C-O torsion angle = 77.1?(8)°] to each other. The mol-ecule is located on a crystallographic centre of inversion. As a result, the methyl group bonded to the methyl-ene group is disordered over two equally occupied positions, sharing the same site as the H atom of the chiral C atom. As a further consequence of the crystallographic centrosymmetry, the 1,2-diamino-propane unit adopts an anti-periplanar conformation and the two benzene rings are coplanar. The central chain is in an all-trans arrangement. An intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bond makes an S(6) ring motif. A C-H?? inter-action links the mol-ecules into one-dimensional chains along the [001] direction.

Classical O-H?O and weak C-H?F hydrogen bonding is also present in the crystal structure. Three C atoms of the N,N-dimethyl-butanaminium moiety are disordered over two sites with refined site occupancies of 0.466?(14) and 0.534?(14).
