Bis[(1-methyl-1H-tetra-zol-5-yl)sulfan-yl]ethane.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(6)H(10)N(8)S(2), was prepared by the nucleophilic substitution reaction of 5-mercapto-1-methyl-tetra-zole and dichloro-ethane. In the crystal, the mol-ecule possesses an approximate non-crystallographic twofold symmetry axis. The crystal packing is stabilized by weak inter-molecular C-H⋯N and π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.448 (6), 3.5085 (5) and 3.4591 (2) Å]. The two five-membered rings form a dihedral angle of 1.9 (2)°.

Project description:The synthesis and crystal structure of a monoclinic (P21/c) polymorph of the title compound, C6H10S2N8, are reported. The mol-ecule has pseudo-twofold rotational symmetry, with the tetra-zole rings being inclined to one another by 5.50 (6)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, forming chains propagating along [101] and enclosing R22(20) ring motifs. The chains are linked by offset π-π inter-actions involving the tetra-zole rings [inter-centroid distances vary from 3.3567 (7) to 3.4227 (7) Å], forming layers parallel to the ac plane. The crystal structure of the triclinic polymorph (P [Formula: see text]) has been described previously [Li et al. (2011 ▸). Acta Cryst. E67, o1669].

Project description:In the two anions of the title salt, C(2)H(10)N(2) (2+)·2C(8)H(5)N(8) (-)·2H(2)O, the central aromatic rings make dihedral angles of 13.53 (6) and 6.53 (7)° with the deprotonated tetra-zole rings, and 11.39 (6) and 10.41 (9)° with the other tetra-zole groups. In the crystal, the cations, anions and water mol-ecules are linked by an extensive O-H⋯N, N-H⋯O and N-H⋯N hydrogen-bond network into two-dimensional wave-like duplex sheets extending parallel to the bc plane. π-π stacking inter-actions between benzene rings [inter-centroid distances are 3.8482 (4) and 3.9621 (5) Å] and between tetra-zole rings [inter-centroid distances are 3.4350 (4) and 3.7169 (4) Å] further consolidate the crystal structure.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Mg(H(2)O)(6)](C(9)H(7)N(4)O(2)S)(2), contains one-half of a [Mg(H(2)O)(6)](2+) cation ( symmetry) and one uncoordinated 2-[(1-phenyl-1H-tetra-zol-5-yl)sulfan-yl]acetate anion. The Mg(II) cation is coordinated by six water mol-ecules, exhibiting a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination. A two-dimensional network parallel to (001) is formed via extensive hydrogen-bonding inter-actions involving the water mol-ecules as donors and the tetra-zole N and carboxyl-ate O atoms of the anion as acceptors. The shortest distance between two adjacent parallel benzene rings is 3.315?(2)?Å. The dihedral angle between the benzene ring and the tetra-zole ring is 40.98?(2)°.

In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked through O-H⋯ N and C-H⋯ O hydrogen bonds, giving infinite chains in both the [110] and [1-10] directions. These chains are further connected by C-Br⋯π and C-O⋯π inter-actions and also by π-π stacking between tetra-zole rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.312 (1) Å], generating a three-dimensional network.
