3,5-Dimethyl-1H-pyrazole-2-hy-droxy-5-(phenyl-diazen-yl)benzoic acid (1/1).

ABSTRACT: There are two independent 3,5-dimethyl-pyrazole and two independent 2-hy-droxy-5-(phenyl-diazen-yl)benzoic acid mol-ecules [in which intra-molecular O-H⋯O bonds form S(6) graph-set motifs] in the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(5)H(8)N(2)·C(13)H(10)N(2)O(3). In the crystal, the components are linked by inter-molecular O-H⋯O, O-H⋯N and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming four-component clusters. Further stabilization is provided by weak C-H⋯π inter-actions.

Project description:There are two independent mol-ecules, A and B, in the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(19)H(20)N(4), in each of which the N=N double bond has an E conformation. The dihedral angles between the pyrazole ring and the p-tolyl rings in the 1- and 4-positions are 22.54?(8) and 35.73?(7)°, respectively, in mol-ecule A. The corresponding dihedral angles in mol-ecule B are 28.13?(8) and 22.18?(8)°. In the crystal, the A and B mol-ecules are linked by weak C-H?? inter-actions, leading to inversion dimers in each case.

The different Pd-N bond lengths can be related to the the electron-withdrawing effect of the o-toluoyl group on the substituted pyrazole ligand. The complex crystallizes as centrosymmetric hydrogen-bonded dimers through N-H⋯Cl linkages.
