Aqua-(2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline-κN,N')diformato-κO,O';κO-nickel(II) monohydrate.

ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Ni(HCO(2))(2)(C(14)H(12)N(2))(H(2)O)]·H(2)O, contains a mononuclear complex mol-ecule hydrogen bonded to a lattice water mol-ecule. The Ni(II) atom exhibits a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry formed by the N atoms from a 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline ligand, two O atoms of a chelating formate anion, one aqua O atom and one O atom of a coordinating formate anion. The mol-ecules are assembled into chains extending along [100] through by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The supra-molecular chains are further linked into layers parallel to (011) by weak π-π packing inter-actions [centroid-centroid separation = 3.768 (2) Å]. The resulting layers are stacked to meet the requirement of close-packing patterns.

Project description:In the title complex, [Pb(NO(3))(2)(C(14)H(12)N(2))(2)], the lead ion is chelated by two 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline (dmphen) ligands and two nitrate anions in a slightly distorted square-anti-prismatic geometry. Intra- and inter-molecular π-π stacking is present in the crystal structure, and the centroid-centroid distances between the benzene and pyridine rings of adjacent dmphen ligands are 3.492 (3) and 3.592 (3) Å, respectively. Inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and C-H⋯π inter-actions help to stabilize the crystal structure.

Project description:In the title complex, [Cd(NO(2))(C(22)H(20)N(6))(CH(3)OH)]ClO(4), the Cd(II) ion is in a distorted penta-gonal-bipyramidal CdN(4)O(3) coordination geometry. The dihedral angles formed between the mean planes of the pyrazole rings and the phenanthroline ring system are 4.37 (19) and 5.84 (21)°. In the crystal, the anions and cations are connected by inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding, while pairs of weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds connect the cations into centrosymmetric dimers. In addition, there is a π-π stacking inter-action involving two symmetry-related benzene rings, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.437 (3) Å.

Project description:A new monoclinic polymorphic form of the title compound, [Cu(HCO(2))(2)(C(14)H(12)N(2))(H(2)O)], is described. It differs from the first ortho-rhom-bic polymorph [Pan, Lin & Zheng (2005 ▶). Z. Kristallogr. New Cryst. Struct.220, 495-496] in the deviation of the Cu atom relative to the plane of the 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline (dmp) ligand. In the present structure, the Cu atom is shifted from the mean plane of the dmp ligand by only 0.005 (1) Å, compared with 0.318 (6) Å in the ortho-rhom-bic form. Hydrogen-bonding and π-π stacking inter-actions (mean inter-planar distance of 3.59 Å in the title compound) in the two different polymorphs are both essential to the supra-molecular assembly.

Project description:In the asymmetric unit of the title complex, [Mn(C(7)H(5)O(3))(2)(C(14)H(12)N(2))(H(2)O)]·0.5C(14)H(12)N(2), the Mn(II) ion is coordinated by a bidentate 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline (dmphen) mol-ecule, one water mol-ecule and two monodentate 2-hydroxy-benzoate anions in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. The OH group of the 2-hydroxy-benzoate anion is disordered over two positions with site-occupancy factors of 0.5. The asymmetric unit is completed with by an uncoordinated half-mol-ecule of dmphen, disordered about a crystallographic twofold axis. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are linked into a two-dimensional framework by O-H?N, O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds. The packing of the structure is further stabilized by ?-? stacking inter-actions involving dmphen mol-ecules, with centroid-centroid separations of 3.8027?(3) and 3.6319?(3)?Å.

Project description:The imino-diacetate dianion in the title compound, [Zn(C(4)H(5)NO(4))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)]·1.5H(2)O, chelates to the Zn(II) center with its N and two O atoms. The metal atom is also chelated by the N-heterocycle and coordinated by one water molecule, leading to a distorted octahedral environment. The dianion, and coordinated and uncoordinated water mol-ecules inter-act through O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, generating a three-dimensional network. One of the two uncoordinated water mol-ecules has half-site occupancy. The crystal studied was a non-merohedral twin with a 15% twin component.

Project description:In the centrosymmetric binuclear title complex, [Pb(2)(C(7)H(5)O(3))(4)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·H(2)O, each Pb atom is eight-coordinated in a PbO(6)N(2) environment by two N atoms from the 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligand, five carboxylate O atoms from four 3-hydroxy-benzoate anions and one O atom from the coordinated water mol-ecule in a distorted bicapped trigonal-prismatic geometry. The benzoate groups coordinate each Pb(II) atom in two different ways. Two benzoate ions behave as bidentate ligands to the Pb atom, and another benzoate ion bridges the Pb atoms, forming a binuclear structure. The dimeric units are packed via O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and π-π inter-actions between the aromatic rings of neighboring mol-ecules, with centroid-centroid distances of 3.552 (2) and 3.641 (2) Å.

Project description:In the title compound, [MnCl(2)(C(14)H(12)N(2))]·0.5H(2)O, all of the non-H atoms apart from the Cl atom lie on a mirror plane and the methyl H atoms are disordered over two sites of equal occupancy about the mirror plane. The Mn(II) ion is coordinated in a distorted tetra-hedral environment by two N atoms of the phenanthroline ligand and two chloride ions. A half-occupancy solvent water mol-ecule lies on a mirror plane and close to an inversion center.
