ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [CuCl(2)(C(14)H(12)N(2))], the complex molecule has m symmetry, with the mirror plane oriented parallel to the planar molecule and the ligated Cu(II) atom. The metal centre has a distorted tetra-hedral coordination formed by two N atoms from one 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline ligand and two Cl atoms. There is inter-molecular ?-? stacking between adjacent 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline ligands, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.733?(2)Å.

A half-occupancy solvent water mol-ecule lies on a mirror plane and close to an inversion center.

Project description:In the title compound, [CoCl(2)(C(14)H(12)N(2))], the Co(II) atom is four-coordinated in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry by two N atoms from a 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline ligand and two Cl atoms. The Co atom and the phenanthroline unit are located on a mirror plane. The methyl H atoms are disordered about the mirror plane and areeach half-occupied. In the crystal structure, π-π inter-actions between the pyridine and benzene rings and between the pyridine rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.8821 (9) and 3.9502 (10) Å, respectively] stabilize the structure.

Project description:The title compound, [HgCl(2)(C(14)H(12)N(2))], consists of one 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline (dmphen) ligand chelating the Hg(II) ion and two chloride ligands coordinating to the Hg(II) ion, forming a distorted tetra-hedral environment. The dmphen ligand is nearly planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0225 Å). The dihedral angle between the normal to the plane defined by the Hg(II) atom and the two Cl atoms and the normal to the plane of the dmphen ring is 81.8 (1)°.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [HgCl(2)(C(26)H(20)N(2))]·0.5CH(3)CN, contains two crystallographic-ally independent [HgCl(2)(C(26)H(20)N(2))] mol-ecules and one acetonitrile solvent mol-ecule. The Hg(II) atoms are four-coordin-ated in distorted tetra-hedral configurations by two N atoms from 2,9-dimethyl-4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline ligands and two Cl atoms. The ligand ring systems are not planar. The phenyl rings are oriented at dihedral angles of 74.61?(3) and 66.00?(3)° in the two molecules. In the crystal structure, ?-? contacts between phenanthroline rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.809?(1), 3.686?(1), 3.986?(1), 3.877?(1), 3.697?(1), 3.789?(1), 3.745?(1), 3.797?(1) and 3.638?(1)?Å] may stabilize the structure.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title complex [Cu(C14H12N2)2]2[Fe(CN)5(NO)], consists of a [Cu(dmp)2](+) cation (dmp is 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline) and half an [Fe(CN)5(NO)](2-) anion. The anion is disordered across an inversion center with the Fe(II) ion slightly offset (ca 0.205Å) from the inversion center in the direction of the disordered trans-coordinating CN/NO ligands. The anion has a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. The Cu(I) ion is coordinated by two phenanthroline ligands in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The dihedral angle between the phenanthroline ligands is 77.16?(4)?Å. In the crystal, the cations are connected to the anions by weak C-H?N hydrogen bonds. In addition, weak ?-? stacking inter-actions are observed, with centroid-centroid distances in the range 3.512?(3)-3.859?(3)?Å.

Project description:All non-H atoms except for the Cl atoms lie on a mirror plane in the title complex, [ZnCl(2)(C(16)H(16)N(2)O(2))]. The Zn(II) ion is coordinated by two N atoms from a bis-chelating 2,9-dieth-oxy-1,10-phenanthroline ligand and two symmetry-related Cl atoms in a distorted tetra-hedral environment. The two Zn-N bond lengths are significantly different from each other and the N-Zn-N angle is acute. In the crystal structure, there are weak but significant ?-? stacking inter-actions between phenanthroline rings, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.764?(1)?Å.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [ZnCl(2)(C(14)H(12)N(2)O(2))], the Zn(II) center is four-coordinated by two N atoms from one 2,9-dimeth-oxy-1,10-phenanthroline ligand and two Cl atoms. The coordination geometry is distorted tetra-hedral, as the Zn-N bond distances are shorter than the Zn-Cl distances, and the Cl-Zn-N and Cl-Zn-Cl bond angles are much larger than the N-Zn-N angle. For the ligand, the O and C atoms of the meth-oxy groups are almost in the plane defined by the phenanthroline ring. The two O atoms deviate from the phenanthroline mean plane by 0.076?(2) and 0.084?(2)?Å, and the two methyl C atoms deviate from the phenanthroline mean plane by 0.035?(3) and 0.361?(3)?Å. There are medium ?-? stacking interactions between two parallel phenanthroline rings with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.7860?(2)?Å and a dihedral angle between the plane defined by the two parallel phenanthroline rings of 1.13?(5)°.

Project description:In the asymmetric unit of the title complex, [Mn(C(7)H(5)O(3))(2)(C(14)H(12)N(2))(H(2)O)]·0.5C(14)H(12)N(2), the Mn(II) ion is coordinated by a bidentate 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline (dmphen) mol-ecule, one water mol-ecule and two monodentate 2-hydroxy-benzoate anions in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. The OH group of the 2-hydroxy-benzoate anion is disordered over two positions with site-occupancy factors of 0.5. The asymmetric unit is completed with by an uncoordinated half-mol-ecule of dmphen, disordered about a crystallographic twofold axis. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are linked into a two-dimensional framework by O-H?N, O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds. The packing of the structure is further stabilized by ?-? stacking inter-actions involving dmphen mol-ecules, with centroid-centroid separations of 3.8027?(3) and 3.6319?(3)?Å.

Project description:In the title complex, [Cu(C(7)H(3)NO(5))(C(14)H(12)N(2))]·3H(2)O, there are two independent neutral mol-ecules of the Cu complex along with six mol-ecules of water of hydration in the asymmetric unit. The Cu(II )atoms in each complex adopt a distorted square-pyramidal coordination geometry being penta-coordinated by one N and two O atoms of 4-hydroxy-pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate anions and two N atoms of 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline (dmp) molecules. In the crystal structure, there are O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds and five ?-? stacking inter-actions with centroid-centroid distances in the range 3.620?(1)-3.712?(1)?Å. In addition, a C-H?? inter-action between a heterocyclic ring of dmp is observed to reinforce the crystal cohesion.
