ABSTRACT: In the title mononuclear dioxidovanadium(V) complex, [V(C(13)H(16)BrN(2)O(2))O(2)], the V(V) atom is five-coordinated by one phenolate O, one imine N and one morpholine N atom of the Schiff base ligand, and by two oxide O atoms, forming a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. In the crystal, weak C-H?O inter-actions and a short Br?Br contact [3.4597?(12)?Å] are observed.

One Cl atom and one water mol-ecule in trans positions complete a distorted octa-hedral geometry around the metal atom. In the crystal, the complex mol-ecules and the uncoordinated water mol-ecules are connected via O-H?N, O-H?O and O-H?Cl hydrogen bonds into layers parallel to the ac plane and these are consolidated by C-H?? inter-actions. The layers are further linked into a three-dimensional network through C-H?O inter-actions.

The nearly perpendicular orientation of the naphthyl residues of the chelate ring [dihedral angle = 82.12?(12)°] precludes the Cu(II) centre from additional coordination. In the refinement, the naphthyl rings were found to be disordered over two positions.; the major component has a site occupancy of 0.667?(4).
