Iron-catalyzed cycloaddition of alkynenitriles and alkynes.

ABSTRACT: The combination of Fe(OAc)(2) and an electron-donating, sterically hindered pyridyl bisimine ligand catalyzes the cycloaddition of alkynenitriles and alkynes. A variety of substituted pyridines were obtained in good yields.
