Bis{4-bromo-2-[(2-hy-droxy-eth-yl)imino-meth-yl]phenolato-?O,N,O'}cadmium.

ABSTRACT: The centrosymmetric title compound, [Cd(C(9)H(9)BrNO(2))(2)], was obtained by the reaction of 5-bromo-salicyl-aldehyde, 2-amino-ethanol and cadmium nitrate in ethanol. The Cd atom, located on an inversion centre, is hexa-coordinated by two Schiff base ligands in an octa-hedral coordination through the phenolate O atom, the imine N atom and the hy-droxy O atoms. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked through inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming chains along the b axis.

Bis[2-(hy-droxy-imino-meth-yl)phenolato]nickel(II): a second monoclinic polymorph.

Project description:The title compound, [Ni(C(7)H(6)NO(2))(2)], (I), is a second monoclinic polymorph of the compound, (II), reported by Srivastava et al. [Acta Cryst. (1967), 22, 922] and Mereiter [Private communication (2002) CCDC refcode NISALO01]. The bond lengths and angles are similar in both structures. The mol-ecule in both structures lies on a crystallographic inversion center and both have an inter-nal hydrogen bond. The title compound crystallizes in the space group P2(1)/c (Z = 2), whereas compound (II) is in the space group P2(1)/n (Z = 2) with a similar cell volume but different cell parameters. In both polymorphs, mol-ecules are arranged in the layers but in contrast to the previously published compound (II) where the dihedral angle between the layers is 86.3°, in the title polymorph the same dihedral angle is 29.4°. The structure of (I) is stabilized by strong intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding between the O-H group and the phenolate O atom.

Project description:In the title compound, C(17)H(20)N(2)O(3), the amino N atom is in a planar environment (sum of angles = 360.0°). All hy-droxy H atoms are involved in hydrogen bonding. In the crystal structure, two O-H?O and an O-H?N(imino) hydrogen bond result in the formation of a three-dimensional network. The latter hydrogen bonding causes distortion of the planarity of the 4-HO-C(6)H(4)-CH=N-C(6)H(4)- fragment by rotation around the =N-C(Ph) bond. The crystal studied was a non-merohedral twin [refined BASF parameter for the major component = 0.5293?(7)].

Project description:In the title thio-cyanate-bridged polynuclear copper(II) complex, [Cu(C(10)H(12)NO(3))(NCS)](n), the Cu atom is five-coordinated in a square-pyramidal geometry, with one phenolato O, one imino N and one hy-droxy O atom of a Schiff base ligand and one thio-cyanato N atom defining the basal plane, and with one thio-cyanato S atom occupying the apical position. In the crystal structure, pairs of adjacent complex mol-ecules are linked through inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds into dimers. The dimers are further linked via Cu⋯S inter-actions, forming two-dimensional layers parallel to the bc plane.

Project description:The title compound, [Mn(C12H15NO5)2]·0.39H2O, is a 0.39 hydrate of the isostructural complex bis-(2-{[1,1-bis-(hy-droxy-meth-yl)-2-oxidoeth-yl]imino-meth-yl}-6-meth-oxy-phenolato)manganese(IV) that has previously been reported by Back, Oliveira, Canabarro & Iglesias [Z. Anorg. Allg. Chem. (2015), 641, 941-947], based on room-temperature data. The current structure that was determined at 100 K reveals a lengthening of the c cell parameter compared with the published one due to the incorporation of the partial occupancy water mol-ecule. The title compound crystallizes in the tetra-gonal chiral space group P41212; the neutral [Mn(IV)(C12H15NO5)2] mol-ecule is situated on a crystallographic C 2 axis. The overall geometry about the central manganese ion is octa-hedral with an N2O4 core; each ligand acts as a meridional ONO donor. The coordination environment of Mn(IV) at 100 K displays a difference in one of the two Mn-O bond lengths, compared with the room-temperature structure. In the crystal, the neutral mol-ecules are stacked in a helical fashion along the c-axis direction.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(C12H16NO2)2], the Cu(II) ion, located on a center of inversion, is coordinated by two singly deprotonated Schiff base ligands derived from condensation of salicyldehyde and 1-amino-pentan-5-ol. The imino N and phenol O atoms from both ligands offer a square-planar arrangement around the metal ion. The Cu-N and Cu-O bond lengths are 2.0146 (15) and 1.8870 (12) Å, respectively. Since the Cu-O and Cu-N bond lengths are different, it can be concluded that the resulting geometry of the complex is distorted. The aliphatic -OH group of the ligand is not coordinated and points away from the metal coordination zone and actively participates in hydrogen bonding connecting two other units and thus stabilizing the crystal lattice. This results in a two-dimensional extended array parallel to (201).

Project description:In the crystal structure of the 1:1 title salt, C(4)H(12)NO(2) (+)·C(6)H(4)BrO(-), hydrogen-bonding inter-actions originate from the ammonium cation, which adopts a syn conformation. A gauche relationship between the C-O and C-N bonds of the 2-hy-droxy-ethyl fragments also facilitates O-H⋯O inter-actions of bis-(2-hy-droxy-eth-yl)ammonium cation chains to phenolate O atoms. The resulting double-ion chains along [100] are further linked by N-H⋯O inter-actions, forming chains parallel to [110].
