ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(13)H(15)NO(2), the main product of a photoreaction, contains two crystallographically independent mol-ecules. In both mol-ecules, the conformation of the seven-membered ring is twist sofa and that of the five-membered rings is envelope. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by weak inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds.

The 1,3-oxazepine C atom to which the 4-chloro-phenyl group is attached and the C atom of the 4-chloro-phenyl group attached to the 1,3-oxazepine ring are chiral C atoms, but the crystal is a racemate in which the enanti-omers are linked by a pair of weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bond, forming an inversion dimer.

Project description:The title compound, C15H14N2S, crystallizes with two independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. The central imidazo[2,1-b][1,3]benzo-thia-zole unit is planar (r.m.s. deviations of 0.010 and 0.008?Å for the two independent mol-ecules). The fused tetra-hydro-hexane ring adopts a half-chair conformation. The phenyl substituent is twisted by 16.96?(13) and 22.89?(12)° relative to the central imidazo[2,1-b][1,3]benzo-thia-zole unit in the two mol-ecules. In the crystal, there are no significant intermolecular interactions present.

In the mol-ecule, the quinazoline ring is non-planar and exhibits a distorted half-chair conformation, while the five-membered ring shows a typical envelope conformation. Project description:In both 2-amino-4,4,7,7-tetra-methyl-4,5,6,7-tetra-hydro-1,3- benzo-thia-zol-3-ium benzoate, C11H19N2S+·C7H5O2-, (I), and 2-amino-4,4,7,7-tetra-methyl-4,5,6,7-tetra-hydro-1,3-benzo-thia-zol-3-ium picrate (2,4,6-tri-nitro-phenolate), C11H19N2S+·C6H2N3O7-, (II), the cations are conformationally chiral as the six-membered rings adopt half-chair conformations, which are disordered over two sets of atomic sites giving approximately enanti-omeric disorder. For both cations, the bond lengths indicate delocalization of the positive charge comparable to that in an amidinium cation. The bond lengths in the picrate anion in (II) are consistent with extensive delocalization of the negative charge into the ring and onto the nitro groups, in two of which the O atoms are disordered over two sets of sites. In (I), the ionic components are linked by N-H?O hydrogen bonds to form a chain of rings, and in (II), the N-H?O hydrogen bonds link the components into centrosymmetric four-ion aggregates containing seven hydrogen bonded rings of four different types.
