ABSTRACT: Allene epoxide formation/opening reaction sequences enabled direct access to diverse products. Described here are a single flask procedure for allene preparation and allene oxidation/derivatization reactions that give, among others, diendiol, diyndiol, ?'-hydroxy-?-enone, dihydrofuranone, butenolide, and ?-lactone products.
