ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, (C(7)H(10)N)(8)[CdCl(6)]Cl(4), contains four 3-methyl-anilinium cations, two chloride anions and half an octa-hedral hexa-chloridocadmate(II) anion, which lies on an inversion centre. In the crystal, numerous N-H?Cl and bifurcated N-H?(Cl,Cl) hydrogen bonds link the components.

Project description:In the organic/inorganic salt hydrate, 6C7H9ClN(+)·P6O18 (6-)·2H2O, the cyclo-hexa-phosphate anion resides on an inversion centre. The asymmetric unit consists of three cations, one half-anion and a water mol-ecule. In the crystal, the water mol-ecules and the [P6O18](6-) anions are linked by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, generating infinite layers parallel to the ab plane. The Bi(III) coordination polyhedron is a distorted octa-hedron. There are four short terminal Bi-Cl bonds [2.5037?(10)-2.6911?(7)?Å] and two longer bridging bonds [2.8834?(8) and 3.0687?(9)?Å] in each octa-hedron. Two sets of chloride ions and water mol-ecules are disordered over the same sites with site occupancies of 1/3 and 2/3, respectively. Anions, cations and water mol-ecules are linked by O-H?O, O-H?Cl and N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional framework. There are also ?-? stacking inter-actions between quinoline ring systems [centroid-centroid distance = 3.575?(1)?Å].

Project description:In the title compound, (C(4)H(8)N(3)O)(2)[CdCl(4)], the asymmetric unit comprises two creatininium cations and one tetra-chloridocadmate anion. Cd?O secondary bonding links one of the two imidazole rings and the anion into ion pairs. The free and bound cations form layers between which the [CdCl(4)](2-) anions are sandwiched. The Cd(II) atom adopts a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry in which the Cd?O bond is axial. Inter-molecular N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds form a two-dimensional network parallel to (001) which ensures the junction between creatininium cations and [CdCl(4)](2-) anions.
