ABSTRACT: In the title mol-ecule, C(18)H(13)N(3)O(4), the hy-droxy group is involved in the formation of an intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond. The dihedral angle between the planes of the benzene ring and the naphthyl ring system is 9.0 (2)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked through N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds into chains along the c axis.

Project description:There are three independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(19)H(16)N(2)O(3), in which the dihedral angles between the naphthalene ring system and the benzene ring are 7.52?(16), 18.15?(18), and 13.9?(2)°. All the mol-ecules exist in the trans configuration with respect to the methyl-idene units. In each mol-ecule there is one O-H?N and one N-H?O intra-molecular hydrogen bond. Project description:The title mol-ecule, C(14)H(11)N(3)O(4), is approximately planar, with an inter-planar angle between the two benzene rings of 5.8?(2)°. In the crystal, four mol-ecules are linked by an R(4) (4)(12) motif with pairs of strong O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds. The motif is situated about the crystallographic centres of symmetry and it is composed of two pairs of parallel mol-ecules. This quadruplet of mol-ecules is further extended by symmetry-equivalent hydrogen bonds to form layers parallel to the (10) plane. In addition to the hydrogen bonds, there is also a weak ?-? inter-action between the benzene rings.
