ABSTRACT: In the title salt, C(6)H(18)N(3) (3+)·3NO(3) (-), the piperazine ring adopts a chair conformation and the ethyl-ammonium group is equatorial relative to the piperazine ring, and in an all-trans conformation. In the crystal, strong charge-assisted N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the piperazinediium trications and the nitrate anions into a three-dimensional network.

Project description:During the recrystallization of 3-[4-(2-carb-oxy-eth-yl)piperazin-1-yl]propionic acid, the carb-oxy-lic acid H atoms were transferred to the piperazine N atoms, forming the title compound, C(10)H(18)N(2)O(4)·2H(2)O, in which the zwitterion lies about an inversion center. In the crystal, bifurcated N-H⋯(O,O) hydrogen bonds connect the zwitterions into a two-dimensional framework parallel to (-102) forming R(4) (4)(30) rings. O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving the solvent water mol-ecules connect the two-dimensional framework into a three-dimensional network. In addition, weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds are observed.

Project description:IN THE CRYSTAL STRUCTURE OF THE TITLE COMPOUND [SYSTEMATIC NAME: 1-methyl-piperazine-1,4-diium bis-(2,4,6-trinitro-phen-ol-ate)], C(5)H(14)N(2) (2+)·2C(6)H(2)N(3)O(7) (-), the ionic components are connected by relatively strong N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds into centrosymmetric six-membered conglomerates, which comprise two dications and four anions. Besides Coulombic inter-actions, only weak C-H⋯O inter-actions and some stacking between picrates (separation between the planes of ca. 3.4 Å but only a small overlapping) can be identified between these 'building blocks' of the crystal structure. The piperazine ring adopts a chair conformation with the methyl substituent in the equatorial position. In the picrate anions, the twist angles of the nitro groups depend on their positions relative to the phenolate O atom: it is much smaller for the NO(2) groups para to the C-O(-) group [15.23 (9)and 3.92 (14)°] than for the groups in the ortho positions [28.76 (13)-39.84 (11)°].

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the organic-inorganic title salt, (C10H28N4)[Cr2O7]2, comprises one half of an 1,4-bis-(3-ammonio-prop-yl)piperazinediium cation (the other half being generated by the application of inversion symmetry) and a dichromate anion.
