ABSTRACT: In the title coordination compound, {[Zn(C(7)H(4)BrO(2))(2)(C(12)H(10)N(2))]·CH(3)CN}(n), the Zn(II) atom is four-coordinated in a distorted tetra-hedral environment by two carboxyl-ate O atoms from two different 4-bromo-benzoate (bpe) ligands and two N atoms from two symmetry-related 1,2-bis-(4-pyrid-yl)ethene ligands. The Zn(II) atoms are bridged by the bpe ligands, which lie across centres of inversion, forming a zigzag chain along [001]. The void space of each unit cell is occupied by an acetonitrile solvent mol-ecule, which is connected to the complex mol-ecule by a weak C-H⋯N hydrogen bond.

The four O atoms in the equatorial plane around the Ni atom form a slightly distorted square-planar arrangement, while the slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination is completed by the two N atoms of the NA ligands in the axial positions. The dihedral angle between the carboxyl-ate group and the adjacent benzene ring is 30.81 (17)°, while the pyridine and benzene rings are oriented at a dihedral angle of 84.66 (6)°. In the crystal structure, O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a supra-molecular structure. A weak C-H⋯π inter-action is also found.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title mononuclear Cu(II) complex, [Cu(C(7)H(4)BrO(2))(2)(C(6)H(6)N(2)O)(2)(H(2)O)(2)], contains one half-mol-ecule, the Cu(II) atom being located on an inversion center. The unit cell contains two nicotinamide (NA), two 4-bromo-benzoate (PBB) ligands and two coordinated water mol-ecules. The four O atoms in the equatorial plane around the Cu(II) ion form a slightly distorted square-planar arrangement, while the slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination is completed by the two N atoms of the NA ligands in the axial positions. The dihedral angle between the carboxyl-ate group and the adjacent benzene ring is 22.17 (16)°, while the pyridine ring and the benzene ring are oriented at a dihedral angle of 82.80 (6)°. In the crystal, N-H⋯O, O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network. A weak C-H⋯π inter-action is also observed.

Project description:In the centrosymmetric dinuclear title compound, [Mn(2)(C(7)H(4)BrO(2))(4)(C(6)H(6)N(2)O)(2)(H(2)O)(2)], the Mn(II) atom is coordinated by one N atom from one bridging nicotinamide ligand and one O atom from another symmetry-related bridging nicotinamide ligand, three O atoms from two 4-bromo-benzoate ligands and one water mol-ecule in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The dihedral angles between the carboxyl-ate groups and the adjacent benzene rings are 10.89 (16) and 8.4 (2)°, while the benzene rings are oriented at a dihedral angle of 6.09 (13)°. Inter-molecular O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O and weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network. π-π inter-actions, indicated by short centroid-centroid distances [3.845 (2) Å between the benzene rings, 3.650 (2) Å between the pyridine rings and 3.700 (3) Å between the benzene and pyridine rings] further stabilize the structure.

Project description:The hydro-thermal reaction of SrCO(3) and 2-bromo-benzoic acid in CH(3)OH-H(2)O afforded the Sr(II) title polymeric complex, [Sr(C(7)H(4)BrO(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n). Within the coordination sphere, the Sr(II) ion is located on a crystallographic twofold axis, and is coordinated by eight O atoms from two water mol-ecules and four carboxyl-ate groups of 2-bromo-benzoate ligands in an irregular coordination geometry. Two μ(3)-carboxyl-ate groups of the 2-bromo-benzoate anions bridge two symmetry-related Sr(II) atoms, giving rise to a chain structure extending along [001]. The polymeric chains are connected via O-H⋯O and O-H⋯Br hydrogen bonds inter-actions into a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.
