ABSTRACT: The crystal structure of the title compound, C(15)H(14)BrNO(3)·H(2)O, has a trans configuration about the central C=N double bond. An intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond occurs in the main mol-ecule. The crystal packing is stabilized by strong O-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, C(15)H(15)NO(3), adopts the enol-imine tautomeric form. The two rings are twisted with respect to each other, making a dihedral angle of 44.08 (5)°. The 3-methoxy-2-[(E)-(4-methoxyphenyl)-iminomethyl]phenol unit is almost planar, the largest deviation from the mean plane being 0.047 (2) Å. Such a planar conformation might be related to the occurrence of an intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond.
