Project description:The structure of the title compound, C(8)H(20)N(+)·Cl(-), is compared with a polymorph that was described earlier in the same space group. Differences in the conformations of the ethyl groups of the cation exist between the polymorphs. This study is given here in order to provide additional unit-cell data for use in qualitative identification of crystalline samples obtained in syntheses in which Et(4)N(+)·Cl(-) is either used or generated.

The two 2-ethyl imidazolium cations in the asymmetric unit differ in the orientation of the ethyl group, with N-C-C-C torsion angles of -170.0?(4) and -87.6?(5)°.

Project description:In the title salt, C11H12ClN2O(+)·Cl(-), the ten non-H atoms comprising the quinolinium residue are coplanar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.041 Å) and the hy-droxy-ethyl group is approximately perpendicular to this plane [Cring-N-Cmethyl-ene-C torsion angle = -74.61 (18)°]. A supra-molecular chain aligned along [101] mediated by charge-assisted O/N-H⋯Cl(-) hydrogen bonds features in the crystal packing. Chains are connected into a three-dimensional architecture by C-H⋯O(hy-droxy) inter-actions.

Project description:In the mol-ecule of the title compound, C(7)H(15)N(3)O, the central C atom is surrounded in a nearly ideal trigonal-planar geometry by three N atoms. The C-N bond lengths in the CN(3) unit are 1.3353?(13), 1.3463?(12) and 1.3541?(13)?Å, indicating an inter-mediate character between a single and a double bond for each C-N bond. The bonds between the N atoms and the terminal C-methyl groups all have values close to that of a typical single bond [1.4526?(13)-1.4614?(14)?Å]. In the crystal, the guanidine mol-ecules are connected by weak C-H?O and C-H?N hydrogen bonds, generating layers parallel to the ab plane.

Project description:In the title compound, C(10)H(14)N(3) (+)·Cl(-), the tetra-hydro-pyridinium ring of the cation, which adopts a slightly distorted envelope conformation, is disordered over two orientations with an occupancy ratio of 0.653?(5):0.347?(5). The amidinium fragment of the major conformer is twisted relative to the benzene ring by 22.5?(6)° and the two C-N bond lengths of this fragment are similar [1.3228?(16) and 1.319?(2)?Å]. In the crystal, the chloride anions are involved in three N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds, which link the components into a two-dimensional hydrogen-bonded network parallel to (010).

Crystal structure of tetra-ethyl-ammonium chloride 3,4,5,6-tetra-fluoro-1,2-di-iodo-benzene.

Project description:Equimolar qu-anti-ties of tetra-ethyl-ammonium chloride (Et4NCl) and 3,4,5,6-tetra-fluoro-1,2-di-iodo-benzene (o-DITFB or o-C6F4I2) have been co-crystallized in a solution of di-chloro-methane yielding a pure halogen-bonded compound, 3,4,5,6-tetra-fluoro-1,2-di-iodo-benzene-tetra-ethyl ammonium chloride (2/1), Et4N(+)·Cl(-)·2C6F4I2, in the form of translucent needles. [(Et4NCl)(o-C6F4I2)2] packs in the C2/c space group. The asymmetric unit includes one mol-ecule of DITFB, one Et4N(+) cation located on a twofold rotation axis, and one chloride anion also located on a twofold rotation symmetry axis. This compound has an inter-esting halogen-bonding environment surrounding the halide. Here, the chloride anion acts as a tetra-dentate halogen bond acceptor and forms a distorted square-pyramidal geometry, with I?Cl(-)?I angles of 80.891?(6) and 78.811?(11)°, where two crystallographically distinct iodine atoms form halogen bonds with the chloride anion. Resulting from that square-pyramidal geometry are short contacts between some of the adjacent F atoms. Along the b axis, the halogen-bonding inter-action results in a polymeric network, producing a sheet in which the two closest chloride ions are 7.8931?(6)?Å apart. The Et4N(+) cation alternates in columns with the halide ion. The expected short contacts (shorter than the sum of their van der Waals radii) are observed for the halogen bonds [3.2191?(2) and 3.2968?(2)?Å], as well as almost linear angles [170.953?(6) and 173.529?(6)°].

Project description:The molecule in the structure of the title compound, C34H60Si4, lies on a twofold rotation axis that passes through the two Si atoms, resulting in a planar cyclo-tetra-silane ring. The dihedral angle between the cyclo-tetra-silane ring and the phenyl ring is 68.20?(5)°. The Si-Si bonds [2.4404?(8) and 2.4576?(8)?Å] are longer than a standard Si-Si bond (2.34?Å) and the C-Si-C bond angle [97.07?(14)°] of the phenyl-substituted Si atom is smaller than the tetra-hedral bond angle (109.5°). These long bonds and small bond angle are favorable for reducing the steric hindrance among the bulky substituents.

Project description:The title chiral quaternary ammonium salt, C(13)H(25)N(4) (+)·I(-), was synthesized through the Menschutkin reaction between the cage aminal (2S,7S)-1,8,10,12-tetra-aza-tetra-cyclo-[8.3.1.1(8,12).0(2,7)]penta-decane and ethyl iodide. The quaternization occurred regioselectively on the nitrogen with major sp3 character. The crystal structure consists of anions and cations separated by normal distances. Ions are not linked through C-H?I hydrogen bonds.
