Bis(2-ethyl-1H-imidazol-3-ium) tetra-chloridocuprate(II).

ABSTRACT: In the crystal structure of the title salt, (C(5)H(9)N(2))(2)[CuCl(4)], the organic cations and the tetrahedral [CuCl(4)] anions are linked into a three-dimensional network by N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds. The two 2-ethyl imidazolium cations in the asymmetric unit differ in the orientation of the ethyl group, with N-C-C-C torsion angles of -170.0?(4) and -87.6?(5)°.

In the complex anion, the mercury cations are coordinated by four chloride anions with distances between 2.4568?(14) and 2.4936?(15)?Å in a tetra-hedral geometry. In the crystal, the cations and anions are connected by inter-molecular N-H?Cl inter-actions. One C atom of the cations is disordered and was refined using a split model (occupancy ratio 0.75:0.25).

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, (C4H7N2)2[CoCl4], consists of two 2-methyl-imidazolium cations and one tetra-hedral [CoCl4](2-) anion. The anions and cations inter-act through N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds to define layers with a stacking direction along [100]. Besides van der Waals forces, weak C-H⋯Cl inter-actions between these layers stabilize the crystal packing.

Project description:In the mol-ecular structure of the title compound, [NiCl2(C7H12N2S)2], the Ni(II) atom has a distorted tetra-hedral geometry, coordinated by two Cl atoms [Ni-Cl= 2.2336 (6) Å] and two thione S atoms [Ni-S= 2.3024 (6) Å]. The angles at the Ni(II) cation, which lies on a twofold rotation axis, are Cl-Ni-Cl = 115.58 (3)° and S-Ni-S = 94.55 (3)°. All other angles at the central Ni(II) atom range from 109.46 (2) to 112.96 (2)°. The C-S-Ni angle is 99.91 (6)°. The planes of two imidazolium rings make a dihedral angle of 70.56 (6)°.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title hydrated complex salt, (C18H14N5)2[Pt(CN)4]·4H2O, consists of one 2-[2,5-bis-(pyridin-2-yl)-1H-imidazol-4-yl]pyridinium cation, half a tetra-cyanidoplatinate(II) dianion, which is located about a crystallographic inversion center, and two water mol-ecules of crystallization. The Pt(II) atom has a square-planar coordination environment, with Pt-CCN distances of 1.992 (4) and 2.000 (4) Å. In the cation, there is an N-H⋯N hydrogen bond linking adjacent pyridinium and pyridine rings in positions 4 and 5. Despite this, the organic component is non-planar, as shown by the dihedral angles of 10.3 (2), 6.60 (19) and 15.66 (18)° between the planes of the central imidazole ring and the pyridine/pyridinium substituents in the 2-, 4- and 5-positions. In the crystal, cations and anions are linked via O-H⋯O, O-H⋯N and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. Additional π-π, C-H⋯O and C-H⋯N contacts provide stabilization to the crystal lattice.

The geometries of the protonated amino-pyridinium cations reveal amine-imine tautomerism. The crystal packing is influenced by N-H?Cl and C-H?Cl hydrogen bonds and ?-? stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.635?(4) and 3.642?(4)°].

Project description:The title compound, (C(5)H(14)N(2))[CuCl(4)], was synthesized by hydro-thermal reaction of CuCl(2) with 1-methyl-piperazine in an HCl/water solution. Both amine N atoms are protonated. The piperazine ring adopts a chair conformation. The Cu-Cl distances in the tetrahedral anion are in the range 2.2360?(7)-2.2732?(7)?Å. In the crystal, moderately strong and weak inter-molecular N-H?Cl hydrogen bonds link the anion and cation units into an infinite two-dimensional network parallel to the ab plane.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, (C(6)H(9)N(2))(2)[CuCl(4)], consists of one cation and one half-anion, bis-ected by a twofold rotation axis through the metal center. The anion exhibits a geometry that is inter-mediate between a T(d) and D(4h) arrangement about the Cu atom. The crystal structure contains chains of cations alternating with stacks of anions. The cationic groups inter-act via offset face-to-face π-π stacking, forming chains running along the c axis. The anion stacks are parallel to the cation chains, with no significant inter- nor intra-stack Cl⋯Cl inter-actions. There are several anion-cation hydrogen-bonding inter-actions of the (N-H)(pyridine)⋯Cl and (N-H)(amino)⋯Cl types, connecting the chains of cations to the stacks of anions. Both the N-H⋯Cl and π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances 3.61 (8) and 3.92 (2) Å] contribute to the formation of a three-dimensional supra-molecular architecture.
