ABSTRACT: The five-membered ring in the title imidazolidinone derivative, C(11)H(12)N(2)O(2)S, adopts an envelope conformation with the S-bound C atom being the flap atom. Overall, the mol-ecule has a U-shaped conformation as both rings are folded towards each other [dihedral angle = 31.66 (6)°]. An eight-membered amide {⋯HNCO}(2) synthon leads to hydrogen-bonded dimeric aggregates in the crystal: these are additionally linked by C-H⋯π inter-actions.

Project description:The title compound, C12H14N2O3S, crystallizes with two independent mol-ecules (A and B) in the asymmetric unit. The five-membered imidazolidin-2-one rings in both mol-ecules are twisted about the C-C bond. In the crystal, the A and B mol-ecules are associated via pairs of N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming A-B dimers. These dimers are linked via C-H⋯S hydrogen bonds, forming double dimers, which are in turn linked via C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds forming two-dimensional networks lying parallel to (001). There are also C-H⋯π inter-actions present, which consolide the layers and link them, so forming a three-dimensional structure.

Project description:The piperidone ring in the title compound, C(18)H(19)NOS(2), is in a distorted half-chair conformation, distorted towards a twisted boat, with the central methyl-ene C atom of the propyl backbone lying 0.606?(2)?Å out of the plane defined by the other five atoms (r.m.s. deviation = 0.1197?Å). One of the S-bound phenyl rings is almost perpendicular to the least-squares plane through the piperidone ring, whereas the other is splayed [dihedral angles = 75.97?(6) and 44.21?(7)°, respectively]. The most prominent feature of the crystal packing is the formation of helical supra-molecular chains along the b axis sustained by C-H?O inter-actions. The chains are consolidated into a three-dimensional architecture via C-H?? inter-actions whereby one S-bound phenyl ring accepts two C-H?? contacts.

The geometry around the S atom is distorted tetra-hedral. Three methyl-ene groups of the cyclo-hexene ring are disordered over two sets of sites [site occupancies = 0.562 (10) and 0.438 (10)]. The crystal packing is stabilized by C-H⋯π inter-actions.

The S atoms occupy axial and bis-ectional positions, and the dihedral angle between the benzene rings of 59.95?(11)° indicates a splayed disposition. Project description:Two independent mol-ecules (A and B) comprises the asymmetric unit of the title ester, C(17)H(20)OS. The phenyl ring is inclined with respect to the thio-carboxyl group, forming dihedral angles of 58.95 (6) (in mol-ecule A) and 62.28 (6)° (in mol-ecule B). In each independent mol-ecule, one adamantyl methyl-ene C atom is nearly coplanar with the thio-carboxyl group. The major difference between mol-ecules A and B relates to the relationship between the S atom and the coplanar adamantyl methyl-ene C atom [C(a)-C(q)-C(c)-S torsion angles = 178.25 (8) and 6.81 (13)°, respectively; C(a) = adamantyl methyl-ene C atom, C(q) = quaternary C atom and C(c) = carbonyl C atom], whereby the S atom in mol-ecule A has an anti relationship with the methyl-ene C atom and in mol-ecule B, the S atom is syn. In the crystal, C-H⋯π inter-actions are formed leading to supra-molecular layers in the ac plane.
