ABSTRACT: In the three-dimensional tetra-chloro-phthalate-bridged title complex [Er(C(8)Cl(4)O(4))(H(2)O)(7)](C(8)HCl(4)O(4))·C(8)H(2)Cl(4)O(4)·H(2)O, the Er(III) ion is coordinated in form of a distorted square antiprism by an O atom of a tetra-chloro-phthalate ligand and by seven water O atoms. Extensive hydrogen bonds establish a layered network structure extending parallel to (001).

Project description:In the structure of the 1:1 proton-transfer compound of isopropyl-amine with 4,5-dichloro-phthalic acid, C(3)H(10)N(+)·C(8)H(3)Cl(2)O(4) (-), the three cation H-atom donors associate with three separate carboxyl O-atom anion acceptors, giving conjoint cyclic R(4) (4)(12), R(4) (4)(16) hydrogen-bonding cation-anion inter-actions in a one-dimensional ribbon structure. In the anions, the carboxyl groups lie slightly out of the plane of the benzene ring [maximum deviations = 0.439?(1) for a carboxylic acid O atom and 0.433?(1)?Å for a carboxyl-ate O atom]. However, the syn-related proton of the carboxylic acid group forms the common short intra-molecular O-H?O(carbox-yl) hydrogen bond.

Project description:The structure of the 1:1 proton-transfer compound of 4-chloro-aniline with 4,5-dichloro-phthalic acid (DCPA), viz. C(6)H(7)ClN(+)·C(8)H(3)Cl(2)O(4) (-), has been determined at 130 K. The non-planar hydrogen phthalate anions and the 4-chloro-anilinium cations form two-dimensional O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen-bonded substructures which have no peripheral extension. Between the sheets there are weak π-π associations between alternating cation-anion aromatic ring systems [shortest centroid-centroid separation = 3.735 (4) Å].
