Two new species of Oxycera (Diptera, Stratiomyidae) from Ningxia, China.

ABSTRACT: Two new speices, Oxycera rozkosnyisp. n. and Oxycera ningxiaensissp. n., are described from Liupanshan Nature Reserve, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, Northwest China. All essential diagnostic characters are figured and possible relationships of both taxa are briefly discussed, and a new key to species of Oxycera from China. The type specimens are deposited in the Institute of Entomology, Guizhou University, Guiyang (GUGC).

Two new species of Stenochironomus Kieffer (Diptera, Chironomidae) from Zhejiang, China.

Project description:Two new species of Stenochironomus Kieffer (Diptera: Chironomidae: Chironominae), Stenochironomusbrevissimus sp. n. and Stenochironomuslinanensis sp. n., are described from China and the male imagines are illustrated. Stenochironomusbrevissimus sp. n. can be separated from the so far known species by having very short and small, spatulate superior volsella with two long setae, whereas Stenochironomuslinanensis sp. n. is easily separated from the other species of Stenochironomus by the following characters: wings transparent, body yellow, superior volsella finger-like, with nine long setae, elongated inferior volsella with four long setae and one well developed terminal spine; tergite IX with 10-15 long setae medially. A key to the males of Stenochironomus occurring in China is given.

Project description:Nephrotoma liankangensis sp. n. and Nephrotoma pseudoliankangensis sp. n. are described from males and females collected from Henan and Yunnan provinces, China. Morphological descriptions and illustrations for the new species are provided. A key to known species from mainland China is provided. Some internal reproductive structures, including male semen pump, female vaginal apodeme and spermatheca, are described and compared. The possible usefulness of these internal reproductive structures for separating related species is analyzed. The type specimens are deposited in the animal specimen room, School of Life Sciences, Anqing Normal University, Anhui Province, China.

Two new species of Paramesosciophilodes (Diptera, Nematocera, Mesosciophilidae) from the Middle Jurassic of China.

Project description:Two new species, Paramesosciophilodesbellus sp. n. and Paramesosciophilodesrarissima sp. n., from the Jiulongshan Formation at Daohugou Village, Inner Mongolia, China, are described in the extinct family Mesosciophilidae. Altogether seven genera with 21 species of mesosciophilids have been described from the Jurassic of Siberia and Kazakhstan, the Lower Cretaceous of Transbaikalia, and the Middle Jurassic of Inner Mongolia. An emended generic diagnosis of Paramesosciophilodes and a list of known taxa of mesosciophilids are provided.

The following five species are re-described and reported from China for the first time: L. macrostigma (Schummel, 1829), L. phragmitidis (Schrank, 1781), L. stigma (Meigen, 1818), L. sylvicola (Schummel, 1829) and L. taurica (Strobl, 1895). A key to adult males of Limonia from Northwest China is presented.
