Tetra-kis(ethyl pyridine-4-carboxyl-ate-?N)bis-(thio-cyanato-?N)cobalt(II).

ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [Co(NCS)(2)(C(8)H(9)NO(2))(4)], the Co(II) atom is six-coordinated by four N atoms from four ethyl pyridine-4-carboxyl-ate ligands in the equatorial plane and two N atoms of thio-cyanate ligands in the axial positions, showing a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry. The structure exhibits disorder in one of the ethyl chains, which was refined using a two-site model with 0.70?(6):0.30?(6) occupancy.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, {[Co(NCS)(2)(C(6)H(4)N(2))(4)]·2C(4)H(8)O(2)}, the Co(II) cations are octa-hedrally coordinated by two terminal N-bonded thio-cyanate anions and four N-bonded 3-cyano-pyridine ligands. The asymmetric unit consists of one Co(II) cation, which is located on a special position with site symmetry 2/m, one thio-cyanate anion and one dioxane mol-ecule, located on a crystallographic mirror plane, as well as one 3-cyano-pyridine ligand in a general position. The crystal structure consists of discrete complexes of [Co(NCS)(2)(3-cyano-pyridine)(4)], as well as two non-coordinating 1,4-dioxane solvent mol-ecules which are disordered due to symmetry.

Project description:Reaction of Co(NCS)2 and Zn(NCS)2 with 4-pyridine-thio-amide led to the formation of compounds with composition [Co(NCS)2(C6H6N2S)4]·H2O (1) and [Zn(NCS)2(C6H6N2S)2] (2), respectively. The asymmetric unit of compound 1, consists of one cobalt(II) cation, two thio-cyanate anions, four 4-pyridine-thio-amide ligands and one water mol-ecule whereas that of compound 2 comprises one zinc(II) cation that is located on a twofold rotation axis as well as one thio-cyanate anion and one 4-pyridine-thio-amide ligand in general positions. In the structure of compound 1, the cobalt(II) cations are octa-hedrally coordinated by two terminal N-bonding thio-cyanate anions and by the N atoms of four 4-pyridine-thio-amide ligands, resulting in discrete and slightly distorted octa-hedral complexes. These complexes are linked into a three-dimensional network via inter-molecular N-H⋯S hydrogen bonding between the amino H atoms and the thio-cyanate S atoms. From this arrangement, channels are formed in which the water mol-ecules are embedded and linked to the host structure by inter-molecular O-H⋯S and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonding. In the structure of compound 2, the zinc(II) cations are tetra-hedrally coordinated by two N-bonding thio-cyanate anions and the N atoms of two 4-pyridine-thio-amide ligands into discrete complexes. These complexes are likewise connected into a three-dimensional network by inter-molecular N-H⋯S hydrogen bonding between the amino H atoms and the thio-amide S atoms.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, [Cd(NCS)(2)(C(5)H(8)N(2))(4)], consists of isolated mol-ecules of [Cd(NCS)(2)(Eim)(4)] (Eim = 1-ethyl-imidazole), which contain a compressed octa-hedral CdN(6) chromophore. The NCS(-) anions are trans and four N atoms from the 1-ethyl-imidazole ligands define the equatorial plane. The mean Cd-N(Eim) and Cd-N(NCS) distances are 2.334?(4) and 2.379?(5)?Å, respectively. Weak C-H?N inter-actions contribute to the crystal packing stability.

Project description:In the title compound, (C5H6N)[Fe(NCS)4(C5H5N)2], the Fe(III) ion is coordinated by four thio-cyanate N atoms and two pyridine N atoms in a trans arrangement, forming an FeN6 polyhedron with a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry. Charge balance is achieved by one pyridinium cation bound to the complex anion via N-H?S hydrogen bonding. The asymmetric unit consists of one Fe(III) cation, four thio-cyanate anions, two coordinated pyridine mol-ecules and one pyridinium cation. The structure exhibits ?-? inter-actions between pyridine rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.7267?(2), 3.7811?(2) and 3.8924?(2)?Å]. The N atom and a neighboring C atom of the pyridinium cation are statistically disordered with an occupancy ratio of 0.58?(2):0.42?(2).

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, (C7H11N2)2[Mn(NCS)4(C7H10N2)2], the manganese(II) cations are coordinated by four N-bonded thio-cyanate anions and two N-bonded 4-(dimethyl-amino)-pyridine ligands into discrete complex dianions. For charge balance, two 4-(dimethylamino)pyridine counter cations are present, which do not coordinate to the metal cation. The asymmetric unit consists of one manganese(II) cation, four thio-cyanate anions and two 4-(dimethyl-amino)-pyridine ligands, as well as two protonated 4-(dimethyl-amino)-pyridinium cations. Project description:The title complex, [Co(C21H16N4)2][Co(NCS)4]·CH3OH, consists of one [Co{C(py)4}2](2+) complex cation [C(py)4 = tetra-kis-(pyridin-2-yl)methane], one [Co(NCS)4](2-) complex anion and a methanol solvent mol-ecule. In the cation, the Co(II) atom is coordinated by six N atoms of two C(py)4 ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. In the anion, the Co(II) atom is coordinated by the N atoms of four NCS(-) ligands in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The methanol mol-ecule is disordered and was modelled over three orientations (occupancies 0.8:0.1:0.1). There are two weak hydrogen-bond-like inter-actions between the methanol solvent mol-ecule and NCS(-) ligands of the anion [O⋯S = 3.283 (3) and 3.170 (2) Å].

Crystal structure of bis-(tetra-methyl-thio-urea-?S)bis(thio-cyanato-?N)cobalt(II).

Project description:In the course of systematic investigations on the synthesis of Co(NCS)2 coordination compounds with different thio-urea ligands, the title compound, [Co(NCS)2(C5H12N2S)2], was obtained. In this compound the CoII cations are coordinated by two crystallographically independent N-bonded thio-cyanate anions and two tetra-methyl-thio-urea ligands into discrete complexes that are located in general positions and show a strongly distorted tetra-hedral geometry. Inter-molecular C-H?S hydrogen bonds of different strength can be observed between the discrete complexes, which are connected by pairs of hydrogen bonds into zigzag-like chains that elongate in the b-axis direction. These chains are additionally linked by strong C-H?S hydrogen bonds along the a-axis direction, resulting in the formation of layers that are parallel to the ab plane. There is also one weak intra-molecular C-H?S hydrogen bond between two neighbouring thio-urea ligands within the complexes. Comparison of the experimental PXRD pattern with that calculated from the single-crystal data prove that a pure phase has been obtained. Thermoanalytical investigations reveal that this compound melts at 364?K and decomposes upon further heating.

The Ni(II) cations are coordinated by two terminal N-bonded thio-cyanate anions (trans) and four pyridazine ligands in a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry. The discrete complexes are arranged into layers parallel to the ab plane which are separated by additional non-coordinated pyridazine ligands.
