ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(25)H(27)NO(5), each of the cyclo-hexenone rings adopts a half-chair conformation, whereas the six-membered pyran ring adopts a flattened boat conformation, with the O and methine C atoms deviating from the plane of the other four atoms. In the crystal, weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds link mol-ecules into chains parallel to the c axis.

Project description:In the title compound, C25H27FO3, each of the cyclo-hexenone rings adopts a half-chair conformation, whereas the six-membered pyran ring adopts a flattened boat conformation, with the O and methine C atoms deviating by 0.0769 (15) and 0.196 (2) Å, respectively, from the plane of the other four atoms (r.m.s. deviation = 0.004 Å). The C=C double bond adopts an E conformation. The dihedral angle between the benzene and pyran (all atoms) rings is 89.94 (10)°. In the crystal, weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into chains running parallel to the b axis.

The pyran ring mean plane and the di-fluoro-phenyl ring are almost normal to each other, making a dihedral angle of 87.55 (4)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by pairs of C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming inversion dimers with an R 2 (2)(8) ring motif. Project description:The title compound, C(23)H(24)Cl(2)O(3), was synthesized by reaction of 2,4-dichloro-benzaldehyde and 5,5-dimethyl-cyclo-hexane-1,3-dione in ethyl-ene glycol. The central ring of the xanthene moiety is almost planar (with an r.m.s. deviation of 0.0268?Å from the least-squares plane) while the two outer rings, in a cis arrangement, display envelope conformations. The ring of the 2,4-dichloro-phenyl substituent is nearly perpendicular [85.89?(4)°] to the xanthene ring system.
