1,4-Bis(3-methyl-phen-yl)piperazine-2,5-dione.

ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(18)H(18)N(2)O(2), consists of two independent mol-ecules, each of which is located about a center of inversion. The mol-ecules are not planar, showing dihedral angles of 55.84 (9) and 54.10 (8)° between the piperazinedione and the aromatic rings. The piperazine N atoms exhibit a planar configuration. The crystal packing is stabilized by inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, C(31)H(25)NO(6), has a structure related to other 3,4-diaryl-substituted maleic anhydride derivatives which have been shown to be useful as photochromic materials. The dihedral angles between the maleimide ring system and the benzene rings bonded to it are 44.48 (3) and 17.89 (3)°, while the angles between each of the latter rings and the corresponding ether bridging connected meth-oxy-benzene rings are 78.61 (8) and 72.67 (7)°. In the crystal, the molecules are linked by C-H⋯O inter-actions.

Project description:In the title compound, 2C12H20N2 (2+)·2H3O(+)·P6O18 (6-)·2H2O, a protonated water mol-ecule bridges the centrosymmetrical anionic P6O18 ring via O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The centrosymmetric hydrogen-bonded rings formed by four oxonium cations and four phosphate anions can be described by an R 4 (8)(36) graph-set motif. The ring motifs are connected by hydrogen bonds into inorganic layers perpendicular to [100]. The 1-(2,3-di-methyl-phen-yl)piperazine-1,4-diium cations are located between the layers, compensating their negative charge and establishing N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds with the O atoms of the anionic framework.

Project description:In the title compound, (C(12)H(20)N(2))[ZnCl(4)]·H(2)O, the two piperazine N atoms are protonated and the [ZnCl(4)](2-) anions adopt a slightly distorted tetra-hedral configuration. In the crystal, O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds link the tetra-chloridozincate anions and the water mol-ecules into corrugated inorganic chains parallel to [010]. The crystal structure is stabilized by N-H⋯Cl, N-H⋯O and O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, with the N-H hydrogen bond originating from one of the two N atoms being trifurcated.

Project description:In the title compound, C(18)H(15)NO(4), the benzene rings form quite different dihedral angles [16.07 (1) and 59.50 (1)°] with the central pyrrole ring, indicating a twisted mol-ecule. Conjugation is indicated between the five- and six-membered rings by the lengths of the C-C bonds which link them [1.462 (3) and 1.477 (3) Å]. The most prominent feature of the crystal packing is the formation of inversion dimers via eight-membered {⋯HNCO}(2) synthons.

The mol-ecule is located on a crystallographic inversion centre. The lateral benzene ring and the central ring make a dihedral angle of 48.75 (14)° and the nitro group is twisted by 41.47 (13)° out of the plane of the benzene ring. The nitro and hex-yloxy groups are in close proximity and the hex-yloxy chain adopts an all-anti conformation.
