A new genus Bifidunguiglenea gen. nov. is erected for the species Glenea gestroi Gahan (Cerambycidae: Lamiinae: Saperdini).

ABSTRACT: Bifidunguigleneagen. nov. is erected for the species Glenea gestroi Gahan, 1894. Bifidunguiglenea gestroi (Gahan, 1894) comb. nov. is redescribed. The genitalia descriptions are reported for the first time and it is newly recorded from Thailand.

Project description:Glenea diversenotata Schwarzer, 1925 is reinstated from a subspecies of Glenea tonkinea Aurivillius, 1925 to species level and Glenea neohumerosa Lin & Yang, 2011 is a new junior synonym. Some biological information on Glenea diversenotata is recorded for the first time, including pictures of the larva and pupa. Glenea quadriguttata Pic, 1926 is reinstated from a subspecies of Glenea lacteomaculata Schwarzer, 1925 to species level. Lectotypes for Glenea lacteomaculata and Glenea quadriguttata are designated. A modified key to the related species is presented.

The complete mitochondrial genome of an Asian longicorn beetle <i>Glenea cantor</i> (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae: Lamiinae).

Project description:The complete mitogenome sequence of an Asian longicorn beetle Glenea cantor, was sequenced. The 15,514?bp long genome has the standard metazoan complement of 38 genes. These genes contain 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes, and 1 control region. The nucleotide composition of the G. cantor mitogenome was A: 39.4%, T: 37.7%, G: 8.9%, C: 14.0%. The A?+?T content is 77.1%, showing strong AT skew. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that G. cantor have sister relationship with Thyestilla gebleri.

A revision of the genus Pseudoechthistatus Pic (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae, Lamiinae, Lamiini).

Project description:The genus Pseudoechthistatus Pic, 1917 is redefined and revised. Five species of the genus are described as new, Pseudoechthistatus sinicus sp. n. and Pseudoechthistatus chiangshunani sp. n. from central Yunnan, China, Pseudoechthistatus pufujiae sp. n. from western Yunnan, China, and Pseudoechthistatus holzschuhi sp. n. and Pseudoechthistatus glabripennis sp. n. from southern Yunnan and northern Vietnam. Pseudoechthistatus birmanicus Breuning, 1942 is excluded from the fauna of China. Three poorly known species, Pseudoechthistatus obliquefasciatus Pic, 1917, Pseudoechthistatus granulatus Breuning, 1942, and Pseudoechthistatus acutipennis Chiang, 1981 are redescribed, and the type localities of the former two species are discussed. Endophallic structure of seven species in inflated and everted condition are studied and compared with their relatives. Illustrations of habitus and major diagnostic features of all species are provided. Some biological notes are reported. An identification key as well as a distributional map are presented.

Zymoseptoria gen. nov.: a new genus to accommodate Septoria-like species occurring on graminicolous hosts.

Project description:The Mycosphaerella complex is both poly- and paraphyletic, containing several different families and genera. The genus Mycosphaerella is restricted to species with Ramularia anamorphs, while Septoria is restricted to taxa that cluster with the type species of Septoria, S. cytisi, being closely related to Cercospora in the Mycosphaerellaceae. Species that occur on graminicolous hosts represent an as yet undescribed genus, for which the name Zymoseptoria is proposed. Based on the 28S nrDNA phylogeny derived in this study, Zymoseptoria is shown to cluster apart from Septoria. Morphologically species of Zymoseptoria can also be distinguished by their yeast-like growth in culture, and the formation of different conidial types that are absent in Septoria s.str. Other than the well-known pathogens such as Z. tritici, the causal agent of septoria tritici blotch on wheat, and Z. passerinii, the causal agent of septoria speckled leaf blotch of barley, both for which epitypes are designated, two leaf blotch pathogens are also described on graminicolous hosts from Iran. Zymoseptoria brevis sp. nov. is described from Phalaris minor, and Z. halophila comb. nov. from leaves of Hordeum glaucum. Further collections are now required to elucidate the relative importance, host range and distribution of these species.
