Description of Uraechanigromaculata sp. n. (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae, Lamiinae) from Guizhou, China

Project description:Abstract Background The genus Uraecha Thomson, 1864 is an Asiatic genus. In China, Uraechaangusta (Pascoe, 1856) is the most common species and it is widely distributed in the southern part of the country. Two species, U.angusta and Uraechaobliquefasciata Chiang, 1951, are distributed in Guizhou Province of China. The type locality of the latter is Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou Province. New information Uraechanigromaculatasp. n. is described and illustrated. A diagnosis is presented to distinguish this species from its close relatives. It is the third species of the genus Uraecha reported from Guizhou Province.

Project description:Glenea diversenotata Schwarzer, 1925 is reinstated from a subspecies of Glenea tonkinea Aurivillius, 1925 to species level and Glenea neohumerosa Lin & Yang, 2011 is a new junior synonym. Some biological information on Glenea diversenotata is recorded for the first time, including pictures of the larva and pupa. Glenea quadriguttata Pic, 1926 is reinstated from a subspecies of Glenea lacteomaculata Schwarzer, 1925 to species level. Lectotypes for Glenea lacteomaculata and Glenea quadriguttata are designated. A modified key to the related species is presented.

Due to their developing in and consuming wood in the larval stage, species in this genus could be economically important, such as A. glabripennis, an introduced species to North America.New informationWe described Anoplophora fanjingensis sp. n., based on specimens from Mount Fanjing (also Fanjingshan), Jiankou County, Guizhou, China. The new species is characterised by its elytra with metallic iridescent sheen and the non-annulated antennae. Habitus of two similar species, Anoplophora chiangi and Anoplophora leechi, are also presented.

Project description:The complete mitogenome sequence of an Asian longicorn beetle Glenea cantor, was sequenced. The 15,514 bp long genome has the standard metazoan complement of 38 genes. These genes contain 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes, and 1 control region. The nucleotide composition of the G. cantor mitogenome was A: 39.4%, T: 37.7%, G: 8.9%, C: 14.0%. The A + T content is 77.1%, showing strong AT skew. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that G. cantor have sister relationship with Thyestilla gebleri.
