ABSTRACT: In the title compound, {[Cd(C(9)H(5)BrO(4))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)]·H(2)O}(n), the Cd(II) atom has a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. Two N atoms from two 4,4'-bipyridine (bipy) ligands occupy the axial positions, while the equatorial positions are furnished by three carboxyl-ate O atoms from three 3-bromo-2-(carboxyl-atometh-yl)benzoate (bcb) ligands and one O atom from a water mol-ecule. The bipy and bcb ligands link the Cd(II) atoms into a three-dimensional network. O-H?O hydrogen bonds and ?-? inter-actions between the pyridine and benzene rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.736?(4)?Å] are present in the crystal.

Project description:The two independent Cd(II) atoms in the polymeric title compound, [Cd(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(4)](C(7)H(4)O(6)S)·H(2)O, lie on twofold rotation axes, and each is coordinated by four water mol-ecules and the N atoms of two 4,4'-bipyridine mol-ecules in an octa-hedral geometry. Bridging gives rise to chains along [101] and [-101]. The 4-hy-droxy-3-sulfonato-benzoate dianions are not connected to the Cd(II) atoms, but form hydrogen bonds to the coordinated water mol-ecules as well as the lattice water mol-ecule, generating a three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title coordination polymer, {[Zn(2)(C(24)H(18)N(4)O(10))(H(2)O)(4)]·H(2)O}(n), the mol-ecular building block (MBB), viz [Zn(2)(CO(2))(4)(H(2)O)(4)], comprises two Zn(II) cations, each bridged by three carboxyl-ate groups from different ligand mol-ecules. These two Zn(II) cations exhibit different coordination environments: a distorted trigonal-pyramidal coordination, as an inter-mediate, is formed by the two coordinated water mol-ecules and three carboxyl-ate groups, and a distorted octa-hedral geometry defined by three water mol-ecules and three carboxyl-ate groups, in which two carboxyl-ate groups from the same side of the clip glycoluril ring and one water mol-ecule are bidentate bridging, whereas others are monodentate units. Every ligand mol-ecule connects four MBBs, thus forming a three-dimensional structure. Extensive intra- and inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonding is observed.

Project description:The title compound, {[Mn(3)(C(10)H(5)O(7))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]·H(2)O}(n), was synthesized under hydro-thermal conditions. Six carboxyl-ate groups of six 5-(carboxyl-atometh-oxy)benzene-1,3-dicarboxyl-ate anions (OABDC(3-)) join three Mn(II) ions into a trinuclear centrosymmetric [Mn(3)(?(2)-COO)(6)] unit with one Mn site situated on a centre of inversion. The latter Mn(II) ion exhibits a distorted MnO(6) coordination, whereas the other Mn(II) ion has a trigonal-bipyramidal MnN(2)O(3) coordination environment resulting from three carboxylate O atoms and the two N atoms of the bipyridine ligand. Adjacent units are linked to each other by OABDC(3-) ligands into a layer parallel to (010). Within the layer, O-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions involving the uncoordinated and half-occupied water mol-ecule and the free carboxyl-ate O atoms are observed. The layers stack along [010], constructing a three-dimensional structure through ?-? inter-actions between adjacent pyridine rings, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.473?(5)?Å.

Project description:In the title polymer, [Cd(C(16)H(10)O(4))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)](n), the Cd(II) ion is in a strongly distorted octa-hedral geometry, being coordinated by two N atoms from a 2,2'-bipyridine ligand, three carboxylate O atoms from two symmetry-related trans-stilbene-4,4'-dicarboxyl-ate dianions and one water mol-ecule. The stilbene ligand lies on an inversion centre at the midpoint of the central C=C bond. This feature generates the polymeric structure: adjacent Cd(II) ions are bridged by trans-stilbene-4,4'-dicarboxyl-ate dianions, giving rise to a one-dimensional structure. The coordinated water mol-ecule is involved in interchain O-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The hydro-thermal reaction of cobalt nitrate with 4,4'-bipyridine and 3-nitro-benzoic acid lead to the formation of the title complex, [Co(C(7)H(4)NO(4))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)](n). In the crystal structure, the Co(II) atoms are coordinated by two terminal carboxyl-ate anions and four 4,4'-bipyridine ligands within slightly distorted octa-hedra. The Co(II) atom and one of the two independent 4,4'-bipyridine ligands are located on a twofold rotation axis, while the second independent 4,4'-bipyridine mol-ecule is located on a centre of inversion. One of the two rings of one 4,4'-bipyridine ligand is disordered over two orientations and was refined using a split model [occupancy ratio 0.68?(2):0.32?(2)]. The Co(II) atoms are connected by the 4,4'-bipyridine ligands into layers, which are located parallel to the ab plane.

Project description:The 4,4'-bipyridine heterocycle in the polymeric title compound, [Cd(C(16)H(13)O(3))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)](n), links adjacent Cd(II) ions into a chain running along the c axis. The Cd atom, which lies on a twofold rotation axis, is chelated by the carboxyl-ate unit and exists in a seven-coordinate penta-gonal-bipyramidal geometry. The apical sites are occupied by N atoms. The water mol-ecule also lies on the twofold rotation axis. The methyl substituent of the propano-ate group is disordered over two positions in a 1:1 ratio. O-H?O hydrogen bonding between water molecules and adjacent carboxylate O atoms is observed.
