Uracil-DNA glycosylase (UDG) specifically removes uracil from DNA by catalyzing hydrolysis of the N-glycosidic bond, thereby initiating the base-excision repair pathway. Although a number of UDG structures have been determined, the structure of archaeal UDG remains unknown.
